AMD UPGRADE

itprosystems, Ebay
4 March 2011
  • Summary: After researching AMD processors thoroughly I decided to purchase this particular device and it delivered as promised! With the addition of memory and the processor my computer is running better, faster than ever. It was a great value for the price I paid and as a bonus it came in the original box! Very smooth transition process to boot!

Good processor for a dual core

HGR, Amazon
9 November 2010
  • Summary: I bought this to upgrade my existing computer. I did the research to find out if my motherboard would take a faster processor and this came up as the second from the fastest CPU for my system so I bought it. It showed an inprovement but not enough to justify the change for me. It is still working and I have had no problems with it. It is hard to find these older CPU's now and the prices are just going up. You should probably just buy a new computer instead!

Athlon X2 4600+

richwall, Ebay
19 September 2010
  • Summary: Have one of these in the wife's computer for 2 years now, bought this one to fix up another box. No its not the latest or greatest but it runs cool, has been really stable with XP. The wife can do paint Shop Pro and Photo shop with it, and I can run AutoCad. It is a solid choice for running a computer if your not going to run the latest games.

Enough for a workstation

Salazar Fidel "Wieger", Amazon
6 January 2009
  • Summary: This processor has enough power for a workstation at a great price, if you are into seriuos games maybe you have to consideer at least a three core cpu, but of course this is in case you are planning to put it together with a $200 video card, but in pair with a 8600gt it's a perfect match

Just right for home theater

scottegos2, PriceGrabber
4 January 2008
  • Summary: This is doing a great job running my home theater pc. I use it to record and playback hdtv as well for a backup server, etc. It's plenty fast enough for all of that. If you want something a little faster, you could try the ado5200 2.6gHz version of this. However, you might be paying more for speed you don't need.
  • Pros: Fast cool low power
  • Cons: not as fast as some others

Fast and "cheap" CPu compared to Intel

aceskull, PriceGrabber
31 October 2007
  • Summary: I really don't have any bad things to say about this processor. It's Cheaper than Intel so right away it's better. Engery efficent chip with 65W. Nowadays most games require over 2GHz of CPU speed so 2.4GHz is just right. Dual 64bit is great for running Vista 64bit or XP 64bit. I do not like the fact it only has 1MB L2 cache when AMD could have had more here. Most Intel chips are now coming out with 2 to 4 standard.
  • Pros: 65W, 2.4GHz, Dual, 64bit
  • Cons: 1MB L2 cache.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ CPU

jwkoda, PriceGrabber
24 October 2007
  • Summary: The AMD dual core processors seem to be a better value than the equivalent Intel CPUs. This is another good CPU available from AMD. It is fast, runs cool and is energy efficient. The included heatsink/fan is nothing special. If you are a overclocker, you probably want to use a better cooling solution. The CPU works great and I have no complaints.
  • Pros: Fast, Good Value, Energy Efficient, Runs Cool
  • Cons: None

Great Processor

Anonymous567, PriceGrabber
21 October 2007
  • Summary: I bought this CPU to replace an Intel Core 2 Duo. I was having all kinds of problems with that processor and/or the MSI motherboard in which I was running it. When I got rid of the C2D, I also no longer needed the giant cooling device I had bought for it. It's not that I was overclocking the system; I just couldn't get the Intel fan and heat sink to stay properly mounted on the motherboard. It all seemed poorly designed.
  • Pros: Fast. No conflicts. Seems to run cool.
  • Cons: None so far.
