Solid processor on a budget

  • Summary: I had some old 939 motherboards that needed a faster processor without breaking the bank. This one is the top of the heap in that setup without going dual core. San Diego core (1 MB of cache) and no need to buy other components.
  • Pros: Decent performance without overclocking.
  • Cons: Yesterday's technology

Dirt cheap and fast!

  • Summary: I went from 500Mhz overclocked s.754 Athlon64 3000+ On a Epox 8NPA + SLI motherboard, to this Athlon 4000+. This,as I whas getting a Geforce 7950GT to replace my moderatly fast Radeon X1800GTO. I decided to do this upgrade, as I was worrying about, that the 3000+ with pretty big certainty would bottleneck my new videocard somewhat. But as I whas on a bit of a tight budget. The Intel Core 2 Duo cpus and motherboards where out of reach.
  • Pros: Very cheap nowadays. fast, runs cool, good overclocker, nice 1 mb L2 cashe.
  • Cons: Not dual core lol.

Great for budget builds

  • Summary: Doesn't get to hot with an Arctic Cooler Pro 64 Can play ALL games without any hiccups. Multiple windows open and still no problem. I got it for a good price but overall prices are inflated. Stick with a Core 2 Duo for $140, only $80 more. AMD was my first computer so I'm sticking by it. I also have a killer gaming rig which uses the E6600 but the AMD is my main work/internet surfing/relax station.
  • Pros: 2.4ghz Not many applications use dual cores yet so a fast single core is not outdated
  • Cons: Price. Price. Price. OEM? Single Core Might as well buy a core 2 duo e4300

Very satisfied customer

robind30, PriceGrabber
7 November 2006
  • Summary: The Athlon 64 4000 processor is extremely fast and reliable. Compared to other similar processors, it's the best one available for this price. It runs really cool compared to processors I've had in the past. It took me less than 15 minutes to install and had easy to follow instructions. AMD has proved to be an exceptional brand in the past and, once again, they haven't let me down.
  • Pros: Fast, good price
  • Cons: None

Athlon 64 4000+

3 October 2006
  • Summary: I have been wanting this since forever. When price drops to an irresistable level, I just got to have it. With all the Dual Cores and Core 2 Duo's out there, this is plenty good for me and also the price is perfect comparing to the other CPU's in the single core FX series. Great for overclocking. I have mine at 2.64 on air cooling. Great!
  • Pros: 2.4 GHz, 1MB cache, 64bit, 90 nm San Diego core, 89W and easy overclock.
  • Cons: none

Another Solid AMD Performer

  • Summary: AMD delivers a great product at a great price point...highly recommended...would buy again. If you don't have the money and want to keep that old Socket 939 alive, this is a natural upgrade.
  • Pros: This chip flies! I upgraded from a 3200+ and can really tell a difference...the low price makes it a no-brainer upgrade for my old Socket 939 non-dual core board.
  • Cons: N/A
