Good CPU

  • Summary: There isn't a whole lot to write about this cpu. Its definitely the most affordable amd64 cpu. I haven't really tried overclocking mine yet. This is a socket 754 cpu. From what I have read there isn't much difference in speed between socket 754 boards and sock 939. Maybe like 5% or something.
  • Pros: Lowest priced 64bit cpu
  • Cons: none

Athlon 64 2800+ Processor - 1.8GHz Processor...

  • Summary: This cpu offers incredible power at a price point that is not much different than upper-end 32-bit cpu cost. Good socket 754 motherboards are available for quite low prices, so a low-cost system does not have to be a low-end system.
  • Pros: Speed
  • Cons: none

Boxed Athlon 64 2800+ Kit (NOT the OEM version)

8 August 2005
  • Summary: Blazing fast using 64-bit Linux OS (Suse for example). Fan a bit noisy, which does not concern me since I use a water-cooled Koolance system (very quiet). Beware that this unit is the older socket 754 CPU and you need a Socket 754 motherboard.
  • Pros: Quite fast. Very reasonable pricing. Kit includes CPU, heatsink and fan.
  • Cons: Fan a bit noisy.

AMD Athlon 64 2800+ Processor

  • Summary: This is the third computer I've built with an Athlon 64 2800+ CPU. These things overclock like crazy as long as you have a quality motherboard and fast memory. Why buy a 3200+ when you can get this model to run just as fast! ZipZoomfly.com has an excellent reputation and it is well deserved.
  • Pros: Great price. Quality product.
  • Cons: None.

  • Summary: when i was thinking of a pc upgrade,i weighed many options including intel pentium 4 processors and amd athlon.i went in for amd athlon 64 2800+.i am totally satisfied with the performance and it is much faster than what i imagined.its even faster than systems running on pentium -4 3ghz based...
  • Pros: i have worked on other intel pentium-4 based systems.but i can say though the speed shows only 1.8ghz but it can beat any pentium 4 processor running at 3 ghz
  • Cons: yet to find that, except lot of heat being generated which is bearable

  • Summary: If you want a 64 bit proccessor that is very fast, and stable, this will work well. I use it for a little bit of gaming, and word processing, with a EPOX EP-8KDA3I. Highly recommended.
  • Pros: 64 bit proccessor. Quiet heatsink, and fan. And FAST!!
  • Cons: 512k cache. Socket 754 doesn't have a long future.

2 February 2005
  • Summary: I purchased this processor only because the lower model I had originally decided on was out of stock at the store I was at. Boy am I glad it was. This processor is fast and quiet. Everything went together quickly and easily and there were no problems.
  • Pros: Speed, ease of installation, quiet
  • Cons: None that come to mind

AMD Athlon 64 2800+ Processor

  • Summary: Only problem with install was a misunderstanding about the plastic cover over the thermal patch. I was looking for a thin film that just covered the patch wich is just big enough to cover the chip.
  • Pros: Easy to install. Fan and heatsink custom made for this cpu. Built a gaming rid around this processor and it works great so far.
  • Cons: none so far
