Summary: VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH AMD. MY OLD AMD 2600 CPU IS STILL GOING AFTER 13 YEARS NO PROBLEMS. I'VE NEVER OWNED AN INTEL BUT CONSIDERING A CHANGE AFTER THE RESULTS I'VE HAD WITH THESE A10 6800K APU'S
Pros: WORKS WELL BUT ....
Cons: HAD 2 DIE IN A PERIOD OF 5 MONTHS. THE FIRST DIED WITHIN A MONTH THE SECOND 4 MONTHS AFTER THE FIRST. NO OVERCLOCKING AND SUPPER HEATSINK AND FAN. I WAS NOT RUNNING "HOT" BUT THEY SEEM UNRELIABLE AT BEST GARBAGE AT THE WORST. WHATS GOING ON AT AMD???
Summary: I checked power compatibility it was fine. But, at the time didn't have an additional PSU lying around to accommodate.
Pros: Fast processor running at 4.1 Ghz and easy to install (of course). The price is good.
Cons: It got really hot even with the thermal compound. I'm surprised it didn't fail or damage anything with all that heat. Made my system slower. I had to put back the original AMD processor, which runs much faster; although it's rating is 3.7 Ghz.
Summary: Every dollar counts when you're at this price point, and forcing consumers to purchase an aftermarket cooler poisons the well. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to religate this CPU to the HTPC and slim form factor builds.
Pros: Noticeable increase in graphics performance from the A10-5800k, worth the extra cost if choosing between the two but don't bother upgrading. Most users will have trouble getting this thing to bottleneck.
Cons: Stock cooler is entirely insufficient. I was hitting temps between 80c with Furmark running and 95c with Prime95 running alongside it. Considering the TJMax is listed as 74c, this is an entirely unacceptable result. When you factor in the additional cost of faster RAM, such as 2133 MHz instead of...
Summary: This is my 3rd build of and an S series APU. I am generally happy with this series and only build AMD systems. Just can't be sure if it it an AMD or Gigabyte issue. Using a Gigabyte GA-F2A88XN-WIFI FM2+ / FM2 AMD A88X (Bolton D4) SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI Mini ITX AMD Motherboard with G.SKILL Ares...
Pros: AMD and Newegg, a good match [usually]
Cons: After about a week, the fan starts running strange and sounds like a jet engine, sometimes getting so loud it drowns out the TV or Winamp. Very annoying. However, it has not yet started shutting down or becoming more bizarre.
Summary: The APU installed easily and had excellent options and features to choose from in the BIOS and it worked fine the first few weeks, however, it is very delicate. Every time I tried to do anything out of the ordinary it would stop working and would not even let the mainboard start up.
