Summary: (I have the black/grey Caprice 500). The handset volume is too quiet and does not appear to be adjustable, and my hearing isn't even that bad. The volume control only affects the speakerphone volume. The ringer can be set between "loud" and "very loud", but not turned off.
Summary: This product has lived up to expectations as a phone but thats it. there has been no good surprises, the volume does not change and at time it is very difficult to hear what people are saying. the program function to add phone numbers etc seems difficult to use.
Excerpt: This phone looks good but sounds terrible. The phone I had there was a permanent buzzing noise on the line, and the callers complained of quietness and I could hardly hear them. The handsfree function is a joke, as you can`t hear anything, even with the volume turned up loud.
Excerpt: Hmm. Found this phone to be excellent. No probs with theres or sound quality or hands free which was excellent. Try putting batteries in it...works better that way. Anyhow, now I have all the symptoms listed above, particularly the nasty buzzing sound....
Excerpt: Looks nice and is cheap (or expensive based on its performance). Took the first one back because I was very faint at the other end, the new one is the same. Hands-free is useless if you want to be heard (even when shouting within 5 inches of mic), horrible tinny buzzy noises. NOT a bargain.
Excerpt: Bought a Tevion phone from Aldi, £7.99, which is actually a Binatone Caprice 500. So far so good. Have none of the above problems, yet! Seems to work OK. Ringing sound a bit tinny, menu system needs handbook to avoid making errors.
