Excellent performer, but reliability and service support is poor!!

Mangusta1969, Amazon
  • Summary: Excellent performer and a beautiful cooktop, but it is now completely broken after less than 30 days of light use. While boiling a pot of water on the right rear burner, there was a slight "pop" and now the unit does not have a single light or error message showing. The AC input voltage is correct at 240 volts. KitchenAid warranty service on this brand new unit has also been unacceptable.

Being new to induction cooking, I cannot compare this ...

Magician, Amazon
25 November 2014
  • Summary: Being new to induction cooking, I cannot compare this unit to others. However, in a couple of reviews, this unit was rated highest. That was the reason I purchased it. I have been using it for about 3 weeks, and so far it performs its purpose admirably. With new magnietic stainless steel pans to use with it, even my wife who does little cooking has adapted and likes using induction heating and this unit.

Great, sleek look for a cooktop

  • Excerpt: Takes a little while to figure out an induction cooktop, but I am loving it. Easy to clean, and love how it heats to the level you want, Had to buy new pans that work with an induction system, though, but that was okay.

kitchenaid - 30-Inch 4 Element Induction Cooktop, Architect® Series II

Ssskkkwww, pcrichard.com
29 June 2014
  • Excerpt: I have owned this cooktop for 18 months and have had to replace it 4 times as the boost function on the large burner trips a breaker and I then get an F47 error which means that the console has to be replaced. I have updated the wiring and purchased a new set of cookware thinking that my existing set was causing a problem. It isn't the cookware. I believe that the unit needs to go back to the workshop to be refined.

A novel cooking experience!

  • Excerpt: This purchase was part of a kitchen re-model which included all new appliances; I am very pleased with this series. Its clean lines, efficiency, and performance complement all the other pieces. Induction cooking is new to me and the learning curve continues but that's because I used traditional electric stoves for over 40 years. The power boost feature is impressive!

Really cool

BillyBaroo, pcrichard.com

  • Excerpt: Bought this cook-top last month and we really enjoy it. We opted for the black edge version ($100 cheaper) and it looks great on our mostly black counter top. Very easy to use. Water boils incredibly fast and the control is very precise. Go from boiling to simmer instantly. Anybody that tells you gas is better is just wrong. Safe, easy to clean and very sleek. Have to make sure your pans are compatible (check with a magnet), but induction is the wave of the future.

Beautiful unit

hill652, pcrichard.com

  • Excerpt: We bought this unit to replace another brand that had failed three times in as many months. The kitchenaid had good reviews, would fit in the custom cut in our granite countertops, and looked nice. The only complaint I have is the unusual sizing of the elements. The two elements on the bridge (a feature I wanted) are so close together that it is difficult to fit two medium sized pots on it. And, the large element is virtually too large to be of much use.

Do not recommend Induction cooktop

Ralewis, pcrichard.com
29 April 2014
  • Excerpt: Would not recomend this. Had for one year and mother board burnt out, fixed on warranty and 4 months later 2 burners went out! Have to make sure the pan size is exact to burner. Need to use magnetic pans which are hard to find in all sizes. Replaced with Kitchenaid gas cooktop.
