Excerpt: Part of a Kitchenaid kitchen. Older cook top had enameled grates which were hard to keep clean, the new on are colored cast iron. Should be much easier to keep clean. This unit has a bridge between the two back burners that will allow a pot top to rest on the cooktop with being above a burner.
Pros: Easy to Clean, Heats Up Quickly, High Powered Burners, Holding Area For Hot Pots
Summary: Bought an early version of this in 1993 or 94. It was so sleek and the glass was super easy to keep clean. Biggest problem? As others have said, the burners and grates are light grey and so they stain. ANY cooking grease, or even burning impurities in the gas, leave dark smudges.
Excerpt: When this cooktop was installed, one of the gas burner posts are bent, and the grates wobble. Had KitchenAid service out, and it turns out that the cooktop's frame is bent! How did this get past quality control. ABT is fantastic, though, since they're going to replace it.
Pros: Heats Up Quickly, High Powered Burners, Precise Controls
Summary: From the look and the price I thought this was the cooktop for me! But when it was installed I suddenly realized that if I were a left-handed person it would be OK, but I am right-handed and all the dials are for lefties. This is something I did not notice and was not asked by the sales person.
