So far, so good.

Ben J "ben", Amazon
4 April 2015
  • Summary: I was a bit nervous to order this. I've had some bad luck with GE appliances and mostly use Whirlpool and Kenmore now. But my wife and I wanted a black downdraft 30" gas cooktop and options were limited. So far, we very happy with it.

Very unhappy with this cooktop.

Watchung Hills "Watchung Hills", Amazon
23 January 2015
  • Summary: We have owned this cooktop for about 5 years and will be replacing it shortly. The grates are not even, so pots need to be carefully balanced and can't always be centered over the heat source. The grates are like a table with uneven legs.

Can Not Recommend

D. Drew, Amazon
17 June 2014
  • Summary: The stove looks great when new and functioned well initially but we have had recurrent maintenance problem. It is very difficult to keep clean, enamel chipped all over the grates, individual ignition failed twice on the controls, glass top broke with routine use, rubber gasket on downdraft grate...

Like the form factor, not the noise of the fan

Hogstrom, Amazon
5 May 2014
  • Summary: I replaced an older version of this stovetop. The fan in the package I received is certainly capable but is very loud relative to the amount of air moved and the previous versions of this cooktop. Not really user friendly if you want to have a conversation while cooking.

Does the job, but comes with complications

Antonio Tarantino, Amazon
2 July 2013
  • Summary: For some reason GE decided to make the bottom of the backdraft rectangular instead of circular, which is how the vents are made. this required an extensive amount of work to get the backdraft vent hook upped. The cook top itself works fine.

Cheap

Brymer Lee Waski, Amazon
18 April 2013
  • Summary: I initially liked this appliance, however, the more I use it, the less I like it. It's made of cheap material (China) and doesn't hold up well. The knobs are plastic overlaid with chrome and will melt if on high heat or accidentally touched with a pan.

not enough heat when downdraft turned on

Lilly, Amazon
29 March 2013
  • Summary: Just installed today. I would NOT buy it again. The downdraft sucks away the heat so that the food being cooked takes forever to cook. A small 1/2 quart pot of soup was still lukewarm after five minutes on high heat with the downdraft turned on.

Only 2 burners

B. F. Halloran, Amazon
19 January 2013
  • Summary: All downdraft cook tops are, according to their manufacturers, submarginal at removing odors, heat and what you would expect a vent to vent. My mistake twice, first with an electric cook top and then with a gas downdraft.
