Excerpt: I bought this to improve my video editing and my photo editing time and it has helped out a lot. With my 4GB RAM my computer froze whenever I started color grading. Its a great upgrade. The only issue I had was getting the ram out of the package. It was a tight fit.
Excerpt: I have a 21.5 inch mid-2011 iMAC. It came with 4GB of memory and an Intel Core i5 2.5GHz processor. I use Adobe LR5, Perfect Photo Suite 7, and the NIK software suite. I was hoping to get a little more speed, but did not. The real issue is to get a better graphics card and processor to start with. I now have 16GB of memory, but really don't need it.
Pros: Definitely got an increase in performance. Going from 2GB to 8GB you'll notice it. Just remember the speed in which the RAM is accessed is the same so it will clip a bit, but no more annoying pinwheel loading.
Cons: Only con so far is losing about an hour off battery life.. which is fine because Im usually at school but keep this in mind.
Summary: I bought this chip to super power my laptop (my laptop has 4gb built in RAM but had a slot used by a 2gb chip, I replaced the 2gb chip with this one). It took no time at all to install and it runs seemingly perfectly (as far as I can tell). I've been pushing my laptop to the limit with simultaneously running programs and I have had no issues.
Excerpt: It was very easy to upgrade macbook pro's RAM. though not great improvements but my boot time was reduced by 15 secs. Product works as expected. If you want significant improvements then upgrade your HD to SSD.
Excerpt: I used two of these kits to maximise the memory on a mid-year 2010 iMac that I decided to upgrade after the hard drive failed. The memory was installed by a technician along with a new 1TB Western Digital desktop hard drive. I'm very satisfied with the performance thus far. Upgrading sure beat purchasing a new computer!
