Hot Case!

John K., Newegg
8 October 2013
  • Summary: Anyone wishing to own a case that earns affection should consider the GS1200. It has cooling solved through either fans or liquid cooling options. My old GS1000 ran cool with stock fans accompanied by a Zalman cpu cooler (9900) and the GS1200 should make ice cubes to boot!
  • Pros: Style and Design coincide to produce a great case... more than enough real estate to satisfy at least 95% of users. Attention to detail, excellent cooling, hot swap drives, hard drive docks, ample USB support... the list goes on and on...
  • Cons: The only reason this case did not earn 5 eggs was the fact that the power button melted and some wires charred . The unit was replaced without any problems through Zalman. I owned a GS1000 (4 yrs) previously and this GS1200 just builds on that foundation. The only caution I would add is this.. if...

This case is ginormous

TRACE E., Newegg
6 February 2013
  • Summary: all in all 4 stars the cons are annoying but little things. The case does what they say and more. Highly recommend.
  • Pros: Great case tons of features 4 swappable drive bays lots of fans for great air throughput
  • Cons: fan controls are inside the case, should have been outside to be more convenient. the internal cable for the front mounted USB3 ports is a usb A plug and not an internal mother board usb3 plug. So you have to run the cable out the back and use a back usb3 port to power the front ports LED lights ...

Very nice case!

Michael P., Newegg
17 June 2012
  • Summary: Looks cool too! Put a Corsair AX1200 PSU in it and it fits fine. Plenty of room for expansion. One more thing, the front USB 3.0 cable has to be routed out the back of the case and plugged into a USB port instead of a MOBO header. Would have preferred the header but it works.
  • Pros: Lots of air flow. Front, side, back, and top fans. Quiet too. Lots of room to work. Running a Gigabyte Sniper 3 MOBO in it and there is room for the Noctua NH-D14 Cooler since the side fan extends out from the case instead of inside it. Lots of options, hot swap bays. Good cable management.
  • Cons: Only complaints are the feet screw into plastic and so you have to be gentle and the heat sink cut out on the back was off by an inch for my MOBO so I had to pull the board to install the cooler. Cost is a little high but you are getting a lot.

Hot Swap backplane issue

Lyle M., Newegg
11 June 2011
  • Summary: Assuming the GS1200 uses the same backplane as previous GS models, the part number is ZM-HS100 and is easily located via a Google search. In addition to the inconvenience, the high price of the backplane risks driving people away from the GS1200.
  • Pros: Firstly, I don't own the GS1200. I've previously worked with the GS1000, which was a solid product. The 1200 looks like a fine evolution of the line.
  • Cons: Sadly, the 1200 appears to be subject to my same primary complaint of its predecessors. Per the photos, it offers two hot-swap drive bays, but only includes one backplane. That inconvenience is compounded by the fact that NewEgg doesn't carry the backplane (as of this review).

Zalman GS1200 Black

Denis, Rozetka
9 October 2011
