Good case with compromises

  • Summary: Overall, the Raven 3 remains a very good case. Build quality is excellent, although they skimped on thumbscrews and went back to connectors requiring you to break out a screwdriver. The enclosure is clean inside, offering excellent cooling performance with low noise. They obviously thought out cable routing and made swapping processors and heatsinks as painless as possible - all good things for a high performance, enthusiast case.
  • Pros: We already have two of the previous, RV02 model Raven cases. Both are packed to the gills with computational and storage kit. They remain our overall favorite cases for builds that combine high performance with low noise. We have used the the newest Raven case for about 6 months and it is decidedly a compromise. On the plus side, cooling performance remains excellent even though it only has two of the massive bottom fans compared with the three in the RV02. This, comb...
  • Cons: All is not perfect with the Raves 3, however, There are four 3.5 inch drive caddies located behind the motherboard. Unfortunately there is little cooling, so you wouldn't want to use these slots for drives that get much use. • Summary: for the price of this thing it needs a bit more fit and finish. it does look sic after i installed 5 Aerocool blue shark fans inside and it is still very quiet. Tons of room for my GTX 560 Ti SLI set up and the very back fan spot allows me to pump air right into bottom card....which in turn keeps my top "forward" card cooler. Weighs a ton and some grab handles or some way to securely carry this beast would be nice.
  • Pros: looks killer.... tons of room... love the HDD's on the back of the motherboard tray... nice set-up for SLI This case reminds me of some of the Alienware cases with the fins on the top that are adjustable. access to the power switch on the PSU through vent holes was cool...didnt have to remove side cover SUHWEEEET cable management!
  • Cons: CHEAP PLASTIC! the top plastic piece had broken tabs straight from the factory. I could hear them rattle around inside when I was moving the shipping box around. Very annoyed and -1 egg. No way am I going to RMA for $30 shipping to get some cheap@ss platic cover fixed. it still works and doesnt vibrate-buzz. Huge 180mm fans in bottom only have 2 settings...low and high. wish there was a more adjustable solution for the price of this thing.. -1/2 egg. cheap top fan low...
