Conclusion: The SilverStone Lascala SST-LC16M HTPC Case is a great extension of an already successful product line that caters to the HTPC community. Out of all the currently Lascala revisions, this is the first chassis design to really focus on the storage aspect when it comes to assembling your own personal HTPC. The overall construction and build quality of the SST-LC16M continues to be top notch and this case will not look out of place next to stereo audio equipment.
Pros: Excellent construction and aesthetically pleasing design, Removable drive bays, Front USB, Audio and Firewire 1394 ports, Excellent storage capacity and expansion room, Integrated multi-functional knob and macro hot keys for audio control, Built-in 16x2 VFD and IR receiver, Includes iMedian software and remote control
Cons: Ventilation for the HD cage cooling fans hindered by front bezel, Internal fan intakes may not work with certain motherboards or PSU's, Side mesh grills are not removable, Stealth 5.25" drive bay does not support slot loading optical drives, High price tag
Summary: Silverstone’s LC16M case achieves what most enthusiasts have been looking for: a home theater PC that operates like an appliance. The aluminum front has an elite look that can be proudly displayed along other elite gear, and the front panel controls work flawlessly. The VFD display software is tuned for home theater applications, and automatically provides information of the current task, which always gets a “wow” from my guests.
