worthy of HAL9000

Andrew B., Newegg

  • Summary: Love... this... case. I would love this to be the last case I ever need to buy. I'm gonna bet that this case will last longer than the MB or CPU or RAM.
  • Pros: Wholy whaa this thing is amazing form and build. The 90 degree MB set-up, took a bit to get my head around, but it works perfectly fine. Even more now that the machine is taking it's proper place in an audio production studio. Quick access to the ports, and pci cards. The top cover pops off with ...
  • Cons: Organization of the HDDs is slightly wonky. The distance between the PSU and the HDD chassis is impressive and really testing the length of the SATA ribbon. The HDDs are also arranged in a way that isn't in line with the SATA power supply chain, had to plug them in back to front, which sucked up ...

Great case... not perfect

Jared J., Newegg

  • Summary: I know I've griped about a few issues that I've encountered with the case. I don't want to give the wrong impression here. I really like the case. I could deal with the power switches. It's a minor annoyance.
  • Pros: This case has a lot going for it. I'd been wanting it for a year or so. (I'm super stingy and slow to buy.) When my workstation died at work and the lead time to replace it from Dell or HP with a dual Xeon was over a month, we just got this and I built my machine. I wanted a quiet machine and no ...
  • Cons: So, I have several issues with this case. 1.) Fan noise! This was sold as a "silent" case. I bought an H80 Corsair liquid cooler. The setup should be nice and quiet. Unfortunately, of the 3 180mm intake fans at the bottom, two of them "click" as they rotate. The rear one clicks as the fan blades ...

  • Summary: I love the design..IMO this case did not live up to the Silverstone expectation of quality...on the other hand, the design is awesome....just needs to use less cheap plastic...
  • Pros: IMO +Solid case +90 degree motherboard mounting +Tool free desing, but its all cheap plastic
  • Cons: IMO -Cheap plastic HDD cages -Side panel corners came chipped -Cheap paint, chips easily

  • Summary: Heckuva case. Looks great, easy to use, nice and quiet. I didn't realize the case came with three switches to control each of the giant intake fans on the bottom of the case. Nice touch! Set to low (I've never had need to turn them to high), the case is pleasingly quiet.
  • Pros: * Big, heavy, honking sturdy beast. A man's case. * Huge amounts of room. I'm pretty sure you could sublet the thing. * The innovative "air in from the bottom" design is effective. * Stock fans are great, and each has a low/high switch. * Quiet. * Easy to install into drive bats.
  • Cons: Only because the case is pricey will I ding the case a star for: * PSU Exhaust grill is PSU-formfactor dependent! Check the manual/comments to ensure you get the correct type PSU! Otherwise, the exhaust grill on your PSU will not match up perfectly with that of the case. Given the cost of this ca...

Good...but...

David G., Newegg
28 May 2011
  • Summary: 2 of the 'quick swap' 5.25 bays were broken on arrival. Theres two metal clips inside each that hold the open/closed position that fell out. Had to take apart the assembly and get everything back together correctly.
  • Pros: Clean look, lots of sound dampening foam, big fans with filters on everything, fits a GTX 580 with room to spare
  • Cons: Mostly nit picks but for the price tag... -Top slot for 5.25 bays is /almost/ unusable with longer components, I need 90 degree bend sata cable or it would not fit, power connector had similar issue. (Had to plug everything in before securing with screws) -HDD bays - would have liked to orient th...

Good ideas, but needs polish/iterations

Karl I., Newegg
24 March 2011
  • Summary: - No hand hold on the front of the case. (I think I might buy a 5.25" drawer, just to use for lifting or grabbing) - As with any high airflow case, your feet might get cold next to it. - The top fan blowing up tends to be audible even at lower RPMs. This is a problem with most blow holes.
  • Pros: - Love having cables accessible without getting on my knees under the desk. - Great airflow - On low setting the bottom intake fans are inaudible and push enough air for general use. - Looks great! My wife even said it looked sexy. ;)
  • Cons: - 90 degree rotated mobo makes cable routing a little more complicated. It's harder to make it clean looking inside. - SATA ports are inaccessible (but still usable) with a long graphics card installed (perhaps more of a mobo issue) - Only one SATA hot swap included (tho you can buy extras) - Res...

Good case, poor fans

Antonio S., Newegg
6 February 2011
  • Summary: One of the fans that broke is right in the front under the HDD cage. I can't find a way to remove it from the chassis. The other two remove fine.
  • Pros: 1.Good layout 2.Good size, but... 3.Good construction,but... 4.Feels Solid
  • Cons: 2. but... It is LARGE Not a true con, but know that this thing is about 35 lbs. 3. but... 2 fans broke after 2 weeks; and I mean BROKE. A blade sheared completely off 2 of them for no reason. I turned the system on one morning and KLANK KLANK KLANK. I've contacted SilverstoneTek about it but they...

One of the best Cases available.

Anonymous, Newegg
31 October 2010
  • Summary: This is something that any prospective buyers should keep in mind. I'm not sure if Silverstone is doing this for all of their inventory, or perhaps you just have get lucky but my case came with three 180mm Air Penetrator fans instead of the stok ones with the Honeycomb grill as seen in the pictures.
  • Pros: HUGE case. I can not stress that enough. Some people might call it a mid-tower because it's shorter in height than most full-tower cases but believe me. It's not a mid-tower. It can fit a 5970 and is deeper than any other case on the market. Extremely quiet and very great cooling because of the r...
  • Cons: Just a few cons that combined knock off an egg. Now this isn't a cheap case by any means obviously so it only magnifies these small but still mentionable flaws. -CP05 Hot-swap connector is DOA. At first I thought it was my hard drive but I decided to take out of the hot-swap bay and try the regul...

Stellar case

Stephanie M., Newegg
26 August 2010
  • Summary: Blue power and HD lights are rather bright, and while I have gotten used to them, I still cannot ignore them. Make sure you measure the space where you wish to keep the computer carefully, as this monster is mid tower in height only.
  • Pros: Great design. Bottom air intake from 3 180mm fans provide positive air pressure and cool temps, while stock filters keep the dust out, Unique foot design keeps carpeting and other potential airflow impediments out of the way. Hot swappable HD SATA adapter pre-installed in first hard drive bay. Po...
  • Cons: "Front" panel connections are a bit sparse (only USB/audio) and are covered by a plastic sliding cover which seems really out of place when everything else is beautiful brushed metal. No true hand hold aside from the rear cutout for the cables. Would have personally loved if the Power and Reset b...

Great case

Jason D., Newegg
15 August 2010
  • Summary: Overall a great case couple of nitpicks with it was the fact that the top optical drive bay is relatively worthless as an optical bay. Also the hotswap bay was a little finicky...gave me a little trouble accepting the Sata power connector.
  • Pros: Spacious, good cooling, relatively easy installation. dust covers work great. Fit and finish is above average and better than anything I've ever had in the past.
  • Cons: Cable routing / stashing can be somewhat difficult if you have many wires or a non-module system (I have the Corsair 750 TN I think which has many cords and is not modular). CPU cutout did not work with Asus Maximus 3 board with the CM 212+ cooler...had to completely remove MB to install.
