NZXT Source 220 Mid-Tower Case Review

Hi Tech Legion
13 March 2012
  • Summary: The NZXT Source 220 mid-tower had good performance. There are some exceptional included features for the price. As of right now, the NZXT Source 220 has to be the best budget gaming case that I have reviewed. There are even features offered that you would find in many high end cases, in a smaller compact size. The look of the Source 220 is clean and simple. The interior fits just about everything that you could want. There is even room to grow in all of the right places.
  • Pros: Price, Bottom Mount PSU, Tool Free Design, One 120mm and One 140mm Fan included, Quiet Operation, Front USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 Port, Steel Mesh for Optimal Airflow, Cable Management, Supports Up To 330mm GPU Size, 160mm CPU Heatsink Clearance
  • Cons: No 2.5" HDD Ports

NZXT Source 220

  • Summary: Seems like NZXT has gotten their act together. First the Phantom, then the H2 and now the entry level Source. As is the scenario for all cases of this price class, looks is what matters and NZXT has managed to offer a good feature set for a 39.90 or 49.90 Euro chassis. Essentially the Source 220 is the exact same chassis as the Source 210 Elite, but with a metal mesh front, allowing for better airflow.
  • Pros: Pretty cool looks (subjective), Two fairly quiet fans included, Internal USB 3.0 connector, Excellent black design throughout the entire chassis, Screwless HDD locks hold suprisingly well, ODD locks hold well, Many openings for cable management, Tall CPU coolers will fit
  • Cons: No dust filters for intake fans, No extra screws included - just the bare minimum, Not many boards have the internal USB 3.0 connector yet, Design may not be for everyone, Simple packaging

NZXT Source 220 Case Review

Hardware Secrets
20 October 2011
  • Summary: During this review, we found out that the Tempest 210 and the Source 220 cases from NZXT share the same internal design. Costing the same, the main question is, “which one is better?” The Tempest 210 comes with a few additional features that make it a better option than the Source 220, in our opinion. It supports an additional fan, allows you to move the side fans to better match the components you want to cool down, and has an air filter for the optional front fans.

  • Excerpt: Welcome to number three of the quartet of NZXT cases to grace us over the past couple weeks. With the diplomatic choice to look at them by ascending call numbers, we have now passed the 210's. With that pair of cases, the Tempest 210 and Source 210 Elite , they both shared the same frame, functionality and basic ideas. Where the cases differ is in the left side panel and the design and aesthetics of the front bezels.

NZXT Source 220 Review
