Excerpt: Today I am checking out the NZXT Phantom computer case. This enthusiast level case is aimed at gamers and computer geeks that want something looks good and has good cooling and other features. Read on for all the details on the NZXT Phantom.
Pros: Fantastic case design, Lots of features, Robust cooling system
Excerpt: The NZXT Phantom is gorgeous in a Dark Side kind of way—whether you opt for Darth Vader black, Imperial Guard red, or our favorite: Stormtrooper white. Though NZXT considers the Phantom a full-tower chassis, at 8.75 inches wide, 21.25 inches tall, and 24.5 inches deep (and with no EATX support), it’s no taller or wider (and barely deeper) than the other mid-tower chassis that make up the rest of this roundup.
Pros: Stunning design; plenty of room for fans; great value.
Cons: Needs a front fan; thinks it's a full-tower.
Summary: I honestly cannot think of anything bad to say about the NZXT Phantom. After a long stretch of refreshes and no really new products from NZXT, this one really takes the cake and instantly pushes the company back into the spot light. A unique and well thought out design, great mix of interesting features and a healthy dose of functionality make this chassis nearly perfect. And with the long list of features it does not break the bank, costing just 140 Euros.
Pros: Sweet looking design, Spacious interior, Includes four fans, Easy installation of drives, Plenty of cable management possibilities, LEDs can be turned off, Fan controller for every fan within the case, Dust filter on intake fans, Available in three colors (white, black and (soon) red), Can hold large graphics cards and CPU coolers, Thumb screws for expansion slots, Meaningful tool-less systems, Informative packaging
Cons: LEDs embedded in fan, The tool-less 5.25 inch system still not as good as screws, Plastic may not be for everyone
Conclusion: The NZXT Phantom is an excellent example of form and function working together. With four fans included in the stock configuration and room for three more, you can expect plenty of cooling performance. The integrated, and prewired, five-channel fan controller makes adjusting these fans a relatively easy process. The Phantom also has support for a dual-radiator if your system needs a little extra cooling and you'd like to go the water route.
Pros: Room for seven fans (four included), Integrated fan controller, Professional, attractive design, Excellent paint job (inside and out), High quality components, Support for watercooling, large graphics cards and heatsinks, and E-ATX motherboards, Built-in wire management
Cons: Opening for 12v motherboard connection is a bit tight, Power supply standoffs may contact fan guards and cause an alignment issue, Rubber guard surrounding motherboard cable pass-throughs falls off easily
NZXT Phantom Enthusiast Steel Full Tower Chassis Review
15 August 2010
The NZXT Phantom at my first glimpse gave me that wow feeling. The further and further I got into reviewing this case, the more that I enjoyed it. The case is built with enthusiasts in mind. It has plenty of features anyone would want with a sleek and sexy touch. While the MSRP is a bit high for most consumers at $139.99 when it becomes available in early September, I still don’t think it’s a high price for a case of this quality.
Excerpt: Lately NZXT has been sending me a few budget friendly cases as well as a LAN case or two and is always trying to go with a theme that sets their cases apart from the masses. It has been a while since I looked at a full tower from NZXT and the one I am about to look at today has already created a buzz over the last few days since the news was launched of its arrival.
