User Review

Robert H., Newegg
1 January 2015
  • Pros: Built a PC for a friend with this case with a final price of 35.99!!! Just insane how cheap this aluminum case was. So much room for expansion I loved the layout. Rubber mounted everything, tool-less disassembly, a real fun little case that looks great and was simple to build with. Was a shame to...
  • Cons: For the price I can't fault anything really, MAYBE you can find a gripe with no front usb ports but that's it.

Amazing Case

JOHN R., Newegg
9 December 2014
  • Summary: The case sides pop off without screws which is both a pro and a con. I had to maneuver my cables a little more because the pressure they were putting on the side behind the drive bay was causing it to pop out a little.
  • Pros: This case is incredibly well designed for the price, I currently have 5 3.5" HDDs and 1 2.5" SSD in there. It uses a backplane for the hard drives to plug in so you don't need as many power ports on the power supply, which is kind of nice. The way the whole 5 drive bay system works with the rails...
  • Cons: Cables going to the back of the hard drives are a little snug, but that's to be expected in a more compact case design. No USB port on the front of the unit, which makes it more inconvenient for booting off a flash drive. The standard ATX power supply was a little tight due to the way the cables ...

Great case - awful service

Scott L., Newegg
21 November 2014
  • Summary: This is my last purchase from Newegg - they USED to be a good place to buy from.
  • Pros: The case, as with all Lian Li cases I own is great - top quality, excellent fit and finish
  • Cons: none except for Neweggs onerous return policies

NAS build - Very Happy

Richard A., Newegg
23 October 2014
  • Summary: I bought this case along with 5 x 3TB drives for a FreeNAS file server and this case is perfect. It couldn't be any more perfect for this application. Take care when choosing a power supply. I went with the Silverstone ST45SF and I have plenty of room to spare.
  • Pros: Side panels pop off without any screws. 5 HD bays with a backplane. Thumb screws everywhere. High quality.
  • Cons: 140mm front fan rattles on occasion and needs to be fiddled with. Front LED is too bright for my room so I disconnected it.

LIAN LI PC-Q25B

Matt T., Newegg
17 July 2014
  • Summary: This is a multi-use home server machine. "Idle" is 2 empty Minecraft servers and a rather busy seedbox. Other services running include FTP, RDP, WINS, Active Directory with file and media shares.
  • Pros: A true work of art. For such a small form factor case there is an incredible amount of room in this thing. Completely sleek exterior makes for a nice show piece, fits well even on an entertainment stand. Side panels have a secure, low risk for breakage attachment mechanism and the fans are near s...
  • Cons: It attracts finger prints!

Outstanding hotswap case

Paul S., Newegg
29 March 2014
  • Summary: I use this case as a wiping station for hard drives. It works perfectly since this is a hot swap case and you do not have to run cables to each hard drive. Plug in, wipe, and your done. I'm using a Lexar ZX micro USB to house multiple bootable ISO files including DBAN.
  • Pros: -Compact -Durable -Sleek/Elegant -Hot swap!!!
  • Cons: Wasn't free...

Plain, well-thought-out case

David M., Newegg
6 February 2014
  • Pros: Lots of drive bays in a small package -- perfect for a fileserver (which is what I built). 5 hotplug bays plus 3 more spots on a removable base plate, and everything fits together nicely.
  • Cons: The opening for the power supply is tight -- I had to peel the decals off the power supply to get it to fit. There's not a lot of room for unused power cables, and if you don't secure stuff carefully, stray cables will jam the fans.

Great case for my FreeNAS build

Brandon S., Newegg
21 December 2013
  • Summary: One of the reviewers mentioned to get left angle SATA cables. If you do that, they will angle upward, not down. You are better off with two longer right angle ones for the top two bays, then 3 or more right angle slightly shorter ones as you move down the drive housing and get closer to the...
  • Pros: - 5 hot pluggable bays - This version supports both molex and SATA power connectors. Thumb screw plate for PSU which helps on initial install and troubleshooting later on. - Small footprint. - Can take the sides off very easy without tools.
  • Cons: - A little harder to work on with the ATX PSU on top of it all. - Pay attention to the mobo stand-off when you take it out so you put it back right. The bottom goes inside the case frame and the top outside of it. I could see doing this twice if you put the bottom on the outside.

Perfect case for SOHO NAS

Ian Y., Newegg
16 December 2013
  • Summary: SATA connectors are now situated horizontally unlike previous versions that required "left-angle" SATA connectors to prevent an unhealthy bend radius. I will absolutely recommend you get 5 angled SATA connectors, and go ahead and wire up all bays regardless of if you are using them initially or not.
  • Pros: I got this to replace an aging Drobo, and move to something with some better reliability. I decided to build my own NAS out of cost and performance considerations. (Went with unRAID as my OS. Not the most advanced, but it does a good job and is easily recoverable in the event of data loss.) The c...
  • Cons: Noise. Stick this thing in a closet or replace the fans. I have it sitting in my wiring closet, but I can hear it when I'm in there. If you're going to sit it somewhere that's out in the open, change the fans to some Fractals or something quiet. Fingerprints. It is a total fingerprint magnet. Whi...

Perfect home NAS case

Patrick O., Newegg
14 December 2013
  • Summary: As a person who builds server for a living, I was pleased with the design of this case. Lian Li managed to strike a great balance between it's simple, pleasing design and functionality with excellent usage of space and intellegent airflow.
  • Pros: Case is well designed. Makes very efficient use of limited space. Lockable Hotswap bays are cleverly designed, convenient and plentiful, plus the bility to mount additional drives at the base of the case. Designed to be able to accomodate video cards if needed. Also capable of taking standard ATX...
  • Cons: No surprises, space is very limited, especially once you get the power supply in there. You'll have to make sure to install the power supply last and be meticulous about your cable management, especially if you also plan to fit a video card inside. Speaking of video cards, if one is mounted you m...
