Excerpt: Every company that makes computer cases hopes to be recognized as the number one case maker in the world, but there is one company that has held this title for more years than I can count, and that is Lian Li. They have been making aluminum cases in their home base of Taiwan since 1983. Today they are known as the number one aluminum case maker in the world.
Conclusion: Lian Li is like the Lexus of computer case manufacturers. They have traditionally been at the forefront of design features, like removable motherboard trays and use of anodized aluminum, and as a result, their cases have always come at a premium. The Armorsuit PC-P80R is no exception, featuring an aluminum design and silent technology designed specifically to address many of the concerns of modern enthusiasts.
Summary: Lian Li has named this full tower case the Armorsuit and its targeted at the hardcore gamer. It has an all aluminum chassis so it's fairly lightweight considering its size. There are plenty of drive bays, lots of room to work, removable motherboard tray, five large fans, fits long power supplies & full length video card and much more. The Lian Li PC-P80 Case is one of the best cases ever released! Watch the video to find out more and check out the bloopers at the end.
Conclusion: Thinking back over the past 12 or 13 years that I've been reviewing computer cases, the Lian Li PC-P80R really stands out from everything I've ever seen first hand or even at trade shows. The level of quality and attention to detail Lian Li has put into this case is second to none. You simply can not appreciate the fine workmanship unless you spend some good quality hands on time with this case.
Pros: Ultra high quality and workmanship, Ultra fine anodized finish on the inside and out, Hand crafted and laser cut, Removable motherboard tray, Awesome window mod, Extremely well cooled with blow hole mod and fan ducting, Full front fan filter that is easy to remove and clean, Rubber dampened hard drive mounts, Sound dampening rubber strips in access door, Optional left or right opening access door with lock, Anti vibration case feet, Removable power supply bay, Integra...
Cons: Overly complicated hard drive racks, The $630 price tag... A computer case like this is just like purchasing a sports car, you don't really need it, but it's cool as hell and the chicks dig it. For those who may be turned off by the price tag or the ATi logo, the original PC-P80 is available for about $400 through NewEgg.com .
Summary: You also get a host of screws for mounting your PCI cards, and we give Lian Li credit for matching the color and texture of the brackets to the rest of the case. Minus the PCI retention mechanism, our only other complaint concerns the case’s simplicity. Other costly cases just have more—digital panels or built-in water cooling—which can help justify an exorbitant price tag. But if elegance is what you’re after, the PC-P80R has it in spades.
Pros: Lightweight; stylin'; spacious; rear mobo tray; holes for water-cooling; tons of features.
Cons: Why does everyone use those damned retention bars? And for a case this expensive, we'd have liked to see a few more bells and whistles.
Summary: The Lian Li Armorsuit PC-P80R AMD/ATI Spider Edition case is an incredibly huge "super" full tower case built for all the AMD & ATI fans out there. The Spider logo on the side panel is very well done, as is the rest of the design. Nearly everything is removable on this case: the motherboard tray, the power supply bracket, the expansion card support and even the top.
Pros: Unique red anodized finish, AMD Spider/ATI CrossFireX side panel design, Quality Lian Li construction and design, Huge interior, Twelve drive bays, Removable motherboard tray, Removable PSU bracket, Removable top panel, Removable expansion card support bracket, Cable management features, Built-in linear fan controller, Included red LED fans are quiet
Cons: Red thumb screws made of aluminum instead of steel, Optional accessories will not match red finish, No external 3.5" bays or converters
