Simply Awsome

Joseph M., Newegg
2 July 2014
  • Summary: Areas for 8 120mm fans at the HDD spaces, 2 Panals on the top can be used for 120-140mm fans with additional purchase. There's room for 5 140mm fans, 2 in the middle and 3 140mm fans on the left rear and one 120mm fan/water cooler.
  • Pros: Cavernous. Room for 20 3.5 HDD's, 6 - 5.25" bays, Motherboard tray slides out for access. There's a hole in the back plate to attach supports for large cpu fans. HDD's slide in or out. Access to just about any area with a few turns of the screws.
  • Cons: For some this case may be too big. It rolls on rollers but is the size of 2 full towers.

Massive Storage with a Few Hiccups

H L., Newegg
27 February 2014
  • Summary: I am running the mobo, 24 drives on one areca card, and some fans from a Seasonic 750. I am running the other 24 drives and most of the fans on a second Seasonic 460. I utilize staggered spinup in the areca BIOS to avoid strain on the drives and PSUs during start up. I used 7 of the excellent and low cost Xigmatek CCA-EMFCB-U01 4-in-3 hard drive cages (N82E16817996019). I used one to house 4 drives in 3 of the front 5.25 slots (perfect fit without modding).
  • Pros: Typically excellent Lian Li construction. Expansive slide out mobo tray. Dual PSU capable. Classic elegant look and profile. Very good (but not excellent) cable routing capabilities. Room for significant number of drives beyond the built in 20 3.5" slots. I am using two of these cases for storage servers - one with an ASUS P9X79 WS mobo and the other using an EVGA X79 SLI mobo. Both setups use two (each) areca 24 port RAID cards, and 48 drives. There is no other case ...
  • Cons: Yes, it is expensive (unless on sale) and it has no fans. You will need a LOT of fans, and should consider a fan controller for one of the front bays. For this price, it should be completely powder coated. I painted both of mine, and it was a job-and-a-half. But like most higher end Lian Li cases, it uses very few rivets, and it can be almost completely disassembled. It is difficult to fasten hard drives in the 20 built in slots, making swapping difficult. I ended up ...

Great Case

Nick G., Newegg
21 May 2013
  • Summary: For those of you who plan to buy this case, DO YOUR RESEARCH. It is obvious that some of the reviewers here that gave it a low rating lack the experience and research skills needed to select a case. If you are going to get a case like this, you need to do your research. Don't blame the manufacturer or newegg for your own stupidity. There are plenty of forums to look at as well as the manufacturer's website.
  • Pros: Great case. I have 20 hard drives installed in various raid configurations. Has tons of room for fans and space for large motherboards. I am using a Supermicro server board right now. I love the pull out motherboard tray.
  • Cons: Size. It is quite large. But if you bought this case you should have known what you were getting into. The corners are a bit sharp so you have to be careful when installing things not to cut yourself. I also had to remove part of the top section in order to install dual corsair H80i's because there was not enough room to get them both in the top vents. So I had to install one on the side and one on top. So if you plan to use dual CPU boards with watercooling, make sur...

Not for beginners

Daniel M., Newegg
5 May 2013
  • Summary: Can't fit an H110 cause it's hoses are too short. Can't fit H110 or X60 into top 140 fan plate because it has 25mm wide spacing between fans. You must hang them by 1 fan because there's 15mm for X60 & 20mm for H110 between fans. Not enough clearance on top of mobo cpu wiring to put either X60 or H110 there, but you can hang the X60 by 1 fan on other top side since it's hoses are long enough.
  • Pros: Nice aluminum fit & finish. Good locking rollers. A typical Lian-Li quality case. U can get top 140 & 120 fan plates. Break out your old Lian-Li parts & screws because you're going to need them.
  • Cons: No fans, no sound insulation, no screens, no front audio jacks. Difficult to mount things in 5 & 1/4 drive bays. You must mount shallow drives 1st & deepest drives last since getting screws in between is tight. No blanking plates for any unused openings.

Terrific Case For Big Data Storage

Foo C., Newegg
15 March 2013
  • Summary: Overall I've been very happy with this case. Built a cheap (in relative terms for the capacity) home server with it using an EVGA Z68 FTW I got on clearance here and some IBM M1015 SAS HBAs from a well known auction site.
  • Pros: * Obviously it holds 20x 3.5" drives (more if using some of the 5.25" bays) * Good cooling capacity * Very quiet considering I have 10x 120mm fans installed
  • Cons: * Doesn't come with any fans, but cheap 4 packs of 120mm fans do the job nicely. * Lian Li really needs to pack this thing better. It's basically a giant tin can, and the packaging is inadequate. The first one I received had damage to the front bay area and the top lip was bent upwards. Second case after RMA was fine.

No as expected

Gilberto L., Newegg
12 February 2013
  • Summary: Over all, this is a good case and I knew upfront that it did not had the front audio ports, as the previous reviews, Newegg did updated the information by the time I made my purchase. (Yes, in the beginning, it stated it had the front jacks) Thank you for reading, please forgive my poor English.
  • Pros: Big, plenty of space, it holds EATX MBs and big power supplies.
  • Cons: No Front audio jacks that is almost a deal breaker, it is made of very thin aluminun, painted black, super easy to scratch.

  • Pros: @MrKnowItAll They changed the bio here after i contacted them letting them know these things didn't come with the case. Seems you don't know everything after all. My reviews and contacting NewEgg helped give you a better bio of what the case was before you purchased it... Your welcome.

Response

Gary H., Newegg
17 January 2013
  • Summary: People should do a little research. Watch some review videos at least. If you absolutely need a specific feature on a case you should verify its included with the product. You didn't mention one design flaw or missing pieces that would warrant a bad review. Everything was as advertised and in proper working order.
  • Pros: This response is to Eric the with the five star tech rating. Nowhere does it say the case has front audio. Nowhere does it say it has hot swap bays. It would cost more if they included two sets(they offer dual 120mm and dual 140mm) of radiator mounts. Some would prefer not to have big holes in the top to let dust enter the pc. You want them so buy them. As far as them being out of stock, it's a new case design.
  • Cons: Who actually uses front audio ports anyway? Most use USB. You knocked two eggs off your original rating for something you should have known was not included. You can afford this case and liquid cooling but not a 5.25" bay devise with front panel audio?
