Excellent Chasis for Server

Ajaigopal V., Newegg
18 April 2009
  • Summary: Remember to run BIOS update that came with Mother Board immediately after assembling the system. If this isn't done, fan sensor does not get activated which lets the fan to rotate at peak and gives a feeling as though you are standing next to a powerful vacuum cleaner.
  • Pros: Excellent for Intel boards, especially S5000PAL. Mid plane board type decides type of RAID or non-RAID control. Lot of room for expansion - like - additional fan, tape drive, optical drive, floppy. Reduces cables inside chassis with mid plane mother board connector.
  • Cons: May not go well with non Intel boards. Lots of components like Mid plane, control panel, SATA cable, RAID key etc have to be brought separately.

gateway 9515

Peter G., Newegg
17 November 2006
  • Summary: this is the same chassis gateway uses on their 9515 server line. We have about 30 of these servers and they have performed well
  • Pros: solid design and modular config
  • Cons: this model doesn't have all the bells and whistles like the redundant power supplies, fans and the cool LCD control panel.
