A solid chassis

  • Summary: The chassis I received included all of the items specified by Intel. The product specifications say up to 4 hard drives, and that’s the number of HDD mounting trays included. Overall, I’m pleased with the product so far.
  • Pros: It’s a solid, high quality Intel server case designed for the S1200BT series server board.
  • Cons: The optical drive SATA power connector is a bit short for most drives.

Lacking Drive Trays

  • Summary: We ordered this as part of a new rollout of more economically friendly servers for clients. If I had known how ill designed this case was, and how inadequate the parts were, I never would have purchased it. I would stick to the SC5650UPNA if you can, as parts are more readily available.
  • Pros: Slimmer stance. Intel provides 3qty molex 4 pin to 2 x sata adapters when they used to only send one.
  • Cons: Has slots for 8 hard drives, but only 6 can be filled at a time per intel (for cooling purposes). Case only comes with 4 drive trays, no additional trays can be ordered as intel does not yet sell the part. Had to rig a 3.5 to 5.25 with screws, washers, and a lot of swearing.
