Summary: I really wanted to like this case, but it didn't work for me and while many of these problems are rectified in the Fractal R5, I am left with a $120 brick. I did not purchase this from Newegg.
Pros: It looks great, well built and solid case. It comes with two 140mm fans installed. Good sound dampening. Removable hard drive cages that can be rotated 90 degrees.
Cons: This case is marketed as working with 240 mm AIO coolers, which may work for some people. If your motherboard has large heat sinks around the top of the case, it could present a problem, unless you use 15mm fans on the radiator. You could install the radiator at the front, but fans don't line up ...
Cons: front I/O never worked right. Whenever I plugged in a usb drive into either the 2.0 or the 3.0 the system froze. I tried this with two motherboards, different ram, another cpu, and finally with another power supply.
Pros: Silent Case, a lot of room for cable management, case looks great
Cons: The case would be 5 starts for me but I put my computer together and it;s silent but it emits a vibration that you can feel it in the entire desk , so i started to listen and see where the vibration is coming from and it's from the bottom hard drive cage my HD is making it vibrate , I remounted t...
Summary: Please finish your product all the way. 95% is not enough. I would have been ok to spend $10 for a better product. Drive trays over complicated. Not that quiet with the window.
Pros: Well engineered. 2 USB 3.0 in the top
Cons: Front panels not sturdy enough. Carried the case a few times and had to hold it by the front panel to slide it behind the driver seat in the car. However, the front panel is not properly fasten with screws but just some plastic clips and a magnet. The glue of the magnet came of 6 month a go, and ...
Cons: Put a stack of books on top of case to keep the case from making a LOT of noise. Fan controller shorted. Computer will not boot with the controller wired in. Nothing worse than short cables in a case. Almost as bad as cooler master cases. I will purchase no more fractal products in the future. Is...
Excerpt: Ok, well i've had my eye on the Define R4 for over a year now, with the R5 coming out recently i was able to snag one up from walmart for $79.99 with free in store pickup. I am coming from another ATX Mid Tower in the old Antec 902.
Summary: Will update when I hear back from Fractal.
Pros: None yet. I guess a pro would be that there seems to be enough space for everything I need. However, see my *cons first..
Cons: Received my case from UPS today. As soon as I opened the box and removed the case from the two flimsy pieces of Styrofoam holding it together, pieces of plastic started falling out. All but one of the plastic pegs that holds the front face of the case together were broken and just rolling around ...
Summary: I am disappointed that Fractal Designs would allow such an obvious defect to pass their manufacturing QA. Also I am very disappointed that Newegg is making me pay shipping costs to return a defective unit.
Pros: Very good design, which I why I selected and purchased it during the recent Newegg sales.
Cons: Except that I was shipped a defective unit. The top of the case was warped inwards such that by slightly pushing it it would noisily pop upwards. Fans mounted there would have the case exhaust grills warped into the fans.
Summary: I give this 1 egg, because when I got it from FedEx, it was destroyed. I'm not kidding, it was destroyed. It was as though FedEx used it to hold up the truck while changing the tire, drove off with it still supporting said truck, the got run over upon realizing they forgot the thing behind.
Pros: Good case, great reviews. Case itself is GREAT. Shipped on time.
