Fractal Arc Midi a Mix Bag of Pros Cons

Anonymous, Newegg
31 December 2012
  • Summary: I bought this based on the reviews on Newegg Video and a little of my checking at my local store where it has this Fractal Arc Midi. One lesson I learnt is to never just purely based on people reviews as they might not have tested it thoroughly (and this includes loading up the empty case with...
  • Pros: 1. Made of solid steel very sturdy - The steel add some weight to this product, making it very sturdy and stable. The side case panel isn't flimsy at all similarly to my older current rig which is also made of steel but thinner. 2. Removable Hard Disk Trays - Even without the screws to secure the...
  • Cons: 1. Very Heavy - This steel case with side panels on is 10 kg, which is much more heavier than my old rig which includes the essential components that is PSU, CPU, Motherboard, 2 RAM Sticks and 1 Hard Drive. When this Fractal Arc Midi is loaded with the essential components listed above, its aroun...

Gret Product, missing Screws

James N., Newegg
12 December 2012
  • Pros: Packaging was great on the product, came in a timely fashion, great case
  • Cons: Was missing the motherboard stand-off screws. I contacted newegg for new ones and never got a reply. I had to drive an hour away to a place that sells some

Not all that impressed.

Virtual N., Newegg
5 December 2012
  • Summary: This case would be really nice if the craftsman ship wasn't so poor. The design is great, it is really well thought out, but the actual case is poorly put together. It reminds me of something that was conceptualized in America and then manufactured in China.
  • Pros: * Great design * Love the Lay Out * Very Ventilated *A very well conceptualized design
  • Cons: * Shoddy Craftsmanship * Poorly Constructed * Stripped Screws * Pain in the rear to get the side panels on correctly. * Fan was broken upon arrival (the fan blade was not connected)

Good buy with deep discounts, not so much at full price

Jonathan D., Newegg
21 November 2012
  • Summary: Fractal: the next rev of this case should have side panels that are more convenient to take off and put on. I've owned tower cases with 4 types of side panel fittings that I can recall, and this case has the worst of those types.
  • Pros: Mostly thoughtful design, lots of fan spaces, looks nice.
  • Cons: First, let me stress that the side panels are the kind that you have to hold it down in many places for all the tabs to engage-- I think you know the type that I'm talking about. It's especially troublesome to get back on when the case is upright. There are better designs for attaching side panel...

User Review

Alexander P., Newegg
16 November 2012
  • Summary: I haven't bought a "new" case for years, so maybe my standards are low. My broken pieces were most likely not caused by shipping or warehouse trauma (as in, not Newegg's fault), so it's likely a quality control issue on fractal's part. The open mesh design lets you hear EVERYTHING.
  • Pros: Roomy. Good looking. Cable management holes with rubber grommets. Removable HDD cages. Included fans are quiet at 100% and push a decent amount of air. The "brushed aluminum" look to the plastic front is a nice touch. FD customer service. Simple flat panels are easy to vinyl wrap. Looks more expe...
  • Cons: Front IO panel was broken in several places. Had to deal with getting a replacement. Side panel fitment is awful (google this, common problem with the midi). I have to hammer it with quite a bit of force to get it on. Every single "thumb screw" required a screw driver to remove. WAY too tight fro...

Honestly, too many cons to recommend.

Danny C., Newegg

  • Summary: As I was writing this review, I realized that I listed way too many cons to even recommend the product. If you're on the fence on buying this case, I would suggest sticking with great and popular brands like Corsair and Antec.
  • Pros: Cool designed case. Very quiet fans that are pretty much inaudible. Lots of room for cable management.
  • Cons: First off, I have to say that some of my front panel ports do not work. I don't know the reason for this, but the headphone/mic, and USB 3.0 port do not work. However, the USB 2.0 ports work at least. I highly doubt it's worth it to send the whole case back to Fractal for repairs, and this is qui...

case is okay

Jonathan C., Newegg
20 September 2012
  • Summary: MORE CONS: This may just be my luck, but my case is an absolute nightmare to remove the side panels. It takes upwards of 5 minutes at times to remove the side panels. I have bent the right panel from pulling so hard. I have never exerted so much energy trying to remove a side panel.
  • Pros: Lots of room for HD's good cable management lots of places to mount additional fans
  • Cons: the hd cage is a pain in the a**. It is the second most irritating thing about this case. The HD's mount to the white bracket via 4 special screws which go through a rubber tube for vibration purposes. The problem with this is if you don't torque the screw down 100% as far as it can go, when you ...

Middle of the road

Ronald N., Newegg
1 September 2012
  • Pros: Good looking case Good cable managment Easy to work in
  • Cons: 1 - Fan controller burned out on first use 2 - 140MM fan burned out on first use. This may have been caused by the fan controller burning out or the fan may have burned out the fan controller. 3 - I wanted to turn the fans 90 degrees for better cable management and when retightening the screws, t...

Nice designer case with lots of ventalation, but oversized and heavy

Alex C., Newegg
30 August 2012
  • Summary: it was BIG!!!
  • Pros: Nice, quiet, usb 3.0 cable management, all hard drive 3.5" trays can install 2.5" drives. This can hide cables because it is wide. this case is for those who would use full size ATX board, Full size multiple graphics cards. My choice was because it was on sale at $69 but used HD4000 that half of ...
  • Cons: Only got 3 standoffs!!! Not that I don't have them as I am regularly building computers every month. But shortage of standoff is not acceptable. Case is heavy but studdy. Handles might be nice. Case door is very tight to open. Antec
