Summary: Update - The button to turn on the lights is 0.25 inches from the reset button....already reset the system once on accident. Isn't the reset button supposed to be near the power button? The front USB cable connection broke 30 seconds after I plugged it into the motherboard. It renders the front USB ports unusable. If I ship the case back I will have to pay for shipping from Hawaii, and shipping the replacement back to Hawaii. guess I will have to just live with it.
Summary: For a while, I actually liked this case. But then the bundled 200 mm fan failed. No problem, just replace the fan right? Wrong. The built-in fan controller uses proprietary connectors, so it literally only works with the fans that came with the case. And you can't buy replacement fans from retailers. I tried buying a Corsair 200 mm fan, but unsurprisingly it had a standard three pin connector, NOT a weird proprietary connector. This is just dumb.
Summary: I was very excited about this case, specially knowing it was from Corsair, which appeared to be a serious and sound business selling good cases. Unhappily after less than a year the inner black paint started to paint my hands, cables and anything in contact with it, thus I could not get into any component without getting my hands and arms or cloths painted with the black paint used in this case.
Summary: Corsair tech support forums are discussing multiple cases of the front panel wiring burning with fire. Use advanced search in Google or "site:" key and restrict your search to Corsair website, or even to Corsair forums on Corsair website. Search for 500r fire, 500r burning, 500R front I/O panel, etc, and you will get plenty of links and photos. The reason of fire is obvious: The front panel is powering two 120 mm front and one 200 mm side fans.
Summary: At the end of last year I decided to build my first PC from selected parts. This included your case. Of all the parts I ordered to build me a new PC, your case was the most disappointing. Day one the thumb screws holding the side panel in place, the top one was cross threaded. No real problem as I work on my own cars and cleaning that up was easy. One of the rubber fan mounts to the side panel was missing.
