Discontinued by Cooler Master!!! WHY?

SEAN S., Newegg
6 April 2011
  • Summary: Cooler Master has FOOLISHLY discontinued this case! Just as I was about to get my hands on one for my new pc! (which has been scattered about on my desk since December) I have a 690 and it does not hold a candle to the 590 (which I purchased for a friend).
  • Pros: Filtered front bezel which is easily removed and cleaned. Extremely roomy for its size. Four hard drives can be mounted in Three 5.25" bays and placed in any of the Nine 5.25 bays. This can be useful for making short cables reach the motherboard. Fans are quiet. PSU mounts at the bottom away from...
  • Cons: More fan mounts than necessary. It does no good to have filters on the front when dust can be sucked in everywhere else. No reset button. Power/Jack panel could be a movable 5.25 mount. Only came in black. White would be nice... Only one Egg off for these reasons.

Lots of open air

Phil M., Newegg
7 November 2010
  • Summary: Would be nice if the LEDs in the front fan had easy way to be turned off (vs having to cut wires). The power LED (blue) is very bright, which I like, but other may not. Would like to have taller feet so bottom mounted PSU fan was not so close to floor. Decided to invert PSU.
  • Pros: Plenty of vents. Plenty of room. Case fans are quiet. Easy to work with. Like the vent behind the MB where the CPU is. Able to route some cables behind MB opening up the chasis air flow event more. Sturdy. Nice paint finish.
  • Cons: Whish there was a second front pannel fan mount high enough to feed the CPU. was able to add one using twist ties which works, but not very profesional. Also, think it would be noce to have vent covers (for side and top) in case you wanted to close some off to enhance air flow.

It's big and cool

Mark E., Newegg
4 November 2010
  • Summary: Simple design means I don't feel like I'm 12 and needing to bling everything I own. But not so simple that it doesn't have elegance.
  • Pros: It's a Cooler Master, my #1 favorite brand of case - been using their cases exclusively for years now. It's pretty big which means lots of room for lots of air flow. Bottom mounted PSU makes me happy and top positioned USB ports makes me happy.
  • Cons: It's big - doesn't fully fit into its spot on my desk (it's too long). The power LED is a bright sucker, because it's in the bedroom if I need to leave it running overnight to download something I have to cover the light with a burp cloth or something.

Sweet Case

Eric N., Newegg
18 October 2010
  • Summary: Q6600 750i mobo 1TB WD & 80GB WD BFG (R.I.P) 9800GT OC 4GB OZC Reaper Noctua NH-U12P 5 120mm fans I really wish the cable management had a little bit more space and it would've been 5 Eggs
  • Pros: Good deal of room to work with and easily holds ATX board with all the goodies. This case provides for some amazing cooling as I have my Q6600 OC'd to around 3.4 and it barely ticks over 34C on full load with Noctua heatsink and all but one of the fan slots filled
  • Cons: 1) Big CPU heatsinks make top side fan slot unusable (less then 10mm of space between side of case and heatsink not that big of a deal though) 2) Cable Management not as good as I would have liked, If you don't have a modular PSU I would recommend getting one as I'm barely able to put all mine be...

Top Notch

SEAN S., Newegg
11 June 2010
  • Summary: Despite what Neweggs specs say it does accept fans smaller than 120mm. You can tell by looking at the fan grills. I mounted the PSU upside down to keep it from sucking dust up off the table. To make better use of the filters on the front bezel I used foil tape on the insides to close off 6 vents.
  • Pros: -Not a "large" case but it is very spacious for its size. -PSU mount is in the bottom, out of the way, and not generating heat near the CPU. -Heatsink is easy to install with the PSU out of the way. -Hard Drives are "individually" isolated in the included 4in3 module. -Front bezel pops off and on...
  • Cons: -Its black. No other colors available. (I'm tired of black!) -No optional solid panels. You're stuck with unnecessary fan locations. -CoolerMasters 4in3 Module Hard Disk Cage that is offered separately does not isolate the drives individually with rubber grommets. So vibrations from one imbalance...

Good Server Case

Anonymous, Newegg
17 May 2010
  • Summary: I choose this over many computer cases billed for server use (particularly the ARK 4U-500-CA) because the drives get much better airflow in this case. I also feel this You could make a gaming system using this build, but there are better options as of May 2010.
  • Pros: This is one of the best case3s for housing a home media server. The hard drive bay gives your 4 3.5" drives slots for 3 5.25" drive slots. That means you can fit up to 12 hard drives in the case if you order more hard drive bays. Fans are located right on the 3.5" bays which ensures that your har...
  • Cons: -No dust filter on the grating beneath the PSU filter. Lack of a filter makes the grating completely pointless unless you like your PSU getting filled with dust. - Have to remove a lot of screws before you can remove hard drives from the case. - Cooler Master sells more of the 3.5" bays through n...

Very Good Deal of a Case

Jeffrey S., Newegg
8 April 2010
  • Summary: Overall I really like this case. With the low price and rebate included it is a deal. Cooling is excellent and with 5 noctuas and the 2 HDD cage Cooler Master fans (which are seriously quiet) you do not need a fan controller to keep it cool and quiet.
  • Pros: - Looks great. - Good positioning of fan slots, have it set up with the rear, top and side (5 120mm Noctua) as exhaust and the front (included single 120mm and additional HDD cage with 120mm) as intake. With this setup the cool air is forced in and the hot air is forced out. - Good, clean placeme...
  • Cons: - No reset button, but that is a very minimal con in my book. - Only one HDD cage with 120mm front fan included. Bought a second one from the Egg @ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817993002, item number STB-3T4-E3-GP. Allows for more HDDs and really helps with the cooling of...

BUY THIS CASE

Mathew R., Newegg
18 March 2010
  • Summary: This case has more than enough room to install anything in. Tons of HD space and plenty of front ports.
  • Pros: Tons of room, Tons of room , Easy drive installs
  • Cons: No reset button. Installing new drives in the HD Cage is annoying without removing the cage from the case. some people might not like the Blue LED Fan.

good airflow, hide a beast inside

Anonymous, Newegg
17 March 2010
  • Pros: With a little work you can make the inside of this case very aerodynamic. Love the fact that it has a very simple design, but great airflow and has the ability to hold a beast inside.
  • Cons: More than 5 HDs and you'll have to buy another cage.. Maybe not the BEST paintjob but it comes close.
