BitFenix Colossus Mini-ITX

26 February 2014
  • Summary: BitFenix entered the market with the original Colossus chassis, which was a massive tower case with elaborate lighting elements built into both side panels. It spawned multiple color variants and windowed versions. After that, the company focused on other case designs. With the Colossus Mini-ITX, BitFenix is returning to its roots, offering a cool fusion of the successful Prodigy and the unique Colossus which established it as a case brand in the first place.
  • Pros: Awesome lighting element, Plenty of space for fully sized components, Can hold a large number of hard drives, A long GPU will easily fit, Can hold potent liquid-cooling setup, Two fans included, Easily accessible fan placement, Dust filter on underside, USB 3.0 with 2.0 connectivity, Full ATX PSU fits, Removable hard-drive cage, LEDs can be toggled between blue, green, red, or off
  • Cons: Overall quality of the front panel is a bit fragile (ODD cover clips and clips holding lighting elements), Tight fit for PSU, Filling all the 2.5" slots could get messy as eveything is pretty tight, A bit of a cable mess inside, No tool-less drive installation, Only 120 mm fan included in the rear - a 140 mm would be better

BitFenix Colossus E-ATX Computer Case

Benchmark Reviews
7 November 2010
  • Conclusion: The Performance of the Colossus is great. The fans perform very well, and are practically silent. I have had no issues with temperatures at all, and I have not had any trouble with dust in my case. The front I/O panel performs as it should. The only thing that did not perform as well as it should was the door, and that only gave me a little trouble. If the Colossus is on uneven carpet, the door may swing open by itself once in a while, especially if bumped occasionally.
  • Pros: Looks great, very unique design, Allowance for different colors and modes on the external LEDs, Plenty of room for all your components, Top compartment is great for gadgets and peripherals, Great cooling system and options, Interior cable management system is superb, Security minded features (GPU straps, locking top compartment
  • Cons: Very Heavy, Front cable management could use a few improvements, HDD/Power LEDs are not visible with door closed

BitFenix Colossus Full Tower Case Review

26 October 2010
  • Summary: Final Thoughts As I said in the introduction we rarely see a new player in the computer case market that really impresses us. I think the last company that did that was NZXT. BitFenix seems to know what they are doing as they are a collaboration of several veterans in both the technology and gaming industries. This means they know what consumers want and what other companies are not offering.
  • Pros: – Awesome design, – The lights!, – Great cooling, – Tons of room inside, – Gamerspecific features, – Price
  • Cons: – The grommets on the cable routing holes came off easily, – Availability

BitFenix Colossus

DarkVision Hardware
28 September 2010
  • Conclusion: BitFenix made a grand debut with the Colossus, if they can keep up this high standard the future looks very rosy for this company. There were some build quality issues with my case due to the fact that it's a pre-production model, but BitFenix listened to all the feedback it received and promised to fix many of these flaws before entering mass production.

BitFenix Colossus

31 August 2010
  • Summary: It is always interesting to see how companies choose the labels and names for their products. While some are more or less what you would expect in terms of overall design, the BitFenix Colossus is a perfect fit. The case is incredibly wide, large, bulky and heavy. Clocking in at 16kg without any hardware installed, this case is not really meant to be moved around much.
  • Pros: Competitive price / performance, Boatload of unique features, Embedded dual color LED system in doors & front, Coated plastic for more resilience, Lockable storage included, Grooves to run cables down the front of the case, Front I/O includes USB 3.0 and attached devices can be secured against theft, Huge amount of space inside, Tool-less expansion card system works extremely well, Tool-less system for drive bays, Two 230 mm fans included, Available in black or white,...
  • Cons: Paint job of door not perfect, a few small areas with less paint, Mainboard hole for backplates is a bit too small, Tooling a bit disadvantagous, hinges of door look a bit ugly, Hard drive trays a bit too flexible, Tool-less optical bay system does not hold drives very tight, Heavy - very heavy, No clean way to route USB 3.0 cables out the back of the chassis

BitFenix Colossus Review - o carcasa colosala!

29 March 2011
