Works

Anonymous, Newegg
27 April 2008
  • Summary: More power connector testing capabilities would be ideal for most modern better PSU's (600W ATX v.2.2 and up), but it cost more so this isn't a bad value
  • Pros: It seems to work, my power supply shorted and it detected a bad 5V line, so I guess it worked.
  • Cons: Doesn't test SATA, PCI-E 6 pin/8 pin power, or 8-pin mobo power connectors.

simply works

Anonymous, Newegg
7 April 2007
  • Summary: I have used this handy gadget numerous times to confirm a suspected bad PSU.
  • Pros: works well to confirm a simple power problem. a valuable tool for anyone who works on older systems.
  • Cons: no 24 pin PSU support, no SATA, doesn't give information on pertinent rails, however, it does confirm a dead PSU.

spend a little more cash

Anonymous, Newegg
7 February 2007
  • Summary: Spend a little more cash and buy one that will work on the type of power supply being utilized on today's systems. This thing was designed for antiques
  • Pros: Newegg ship time and dependabilty
  • Cons: Before you rush right out and buy this tool check the specs very closely. chances are good you will still need to utilize a voltameter to determine whether or not a power supply is functional.

Great cheap tester

Ryan K., Newegg
16 January 2007
  • Summary: I know it can be a pain in the behind for no 24 pin support, but if you save parts like I do, I have several 24-20 pin converters off of old power supplies. That what i used to hook mine up. Worked great.
  • Pros: Very handy. I tried it out to see if it worked before I put my new computer together. Worked great.
  • Cons: No 24 pin support or sata plugs. Directions on the back of the box are poor, but no directions are really needed.
