Decent, but could be a lot better.

Imogene H., Newegg
16 September 2015
  • Summary: If you want a "built like a brick shirtt house" adapter for two 2.5 inch drives then try one of the Silverstone offerings. Those don't have much in the way of ventilation, but with SSDs you don't need much. I guess you could drill the ventilation holes yourself.
  • Pros: There are tons of holes on the bottom that provide ventilation. It does hold a pair of 2.5 inch HDDs/SSDs.
  • Cons: The metal is fairly thin and you want to watch that you don't bend the tabs onto which the 2.5 inch drives mount. As is VERY typical with these "two 2.5 inch drives into the space of a 3.5 inch drive" adapters you'll have a tough time actually getting the 2.5 inch drives mounted properly. A magne...

Not well desgined

Joe G., Newegg
31 January 2013
  • Pros: None
  • Cons: My case mounts the 3 1/2 inch drives from the bottom mounting holes. This adapter only has holes for the side mounts. If you're going to make a 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 inch adapter it might be a good idea to look at a 3 1/2 inch drive and duplicate the standard mounting points and put ALL of them on your ...

Not as pictured or described

Zachary F., Newegg
24 January 2013
  • Pros: Solid material.
  • Cons: The product seen on the page is not the product received. I received a single 2.5 to 3.5 mount Model# HDA 250M The packaging shows the HDA 259A but contained a HDA 250M. Seems some one in packaging needs to pay attention or vantecusa needs to step up their entire operation. This is unacceptable.

Vantec HDA-259A is very thin.

John I., Newegg
23 January 2013
  • Summary: I bought 4 differnt ssd adapters to try different options. The Vantec HDA-250M is more solid and I would buy that version again.
  • Pros: It works. A fan can be mounted for cooling a traditional laptop drive.
  • Cons: It is extremely thin and the tabs that hold the drive bend easily.

Barely there

Michael D., Newegg
22 September 2012
  • Summary: Unique twist on a simple need, the mounting bracket. Newegg should throw in missing mounting brackets for SSDs, by the way, to keep up the customer morale. Thank you in advance.
  • Pros: Clever and functional design engineered to serve it's purpose. One of few options for solving the problem of SSD manufacturers not including a mounting bracket, ala OCZ Agility.
  • Cons: Don't get me wrong, I appreciate a manufacturer streamling material costs but this bracket probably floats on water. Beer can thinness of metal and poly-bag packaging make for damaged shipments; I had to repair one of the four drive-mount tabs with JB Weld. Supports SSDs fine but I don't know if ...
