Too basic

Bruce C., Newegg
10 July 2015
  • Summary: Too basic for the price, tedious. Cheaper testers have a quick OK from the testers side that is better.
  • Pros: Tests individual lines.
  • Cons: Price, no pin readout on testing end.

Great Cable Tester

Anonymous, Newegg
3 June 2010
  • Summary: If you need more functionality for professional/corporate grade jobs then spend the money on a nice Fluke tester. Otherwise, this TrendNet is perfect for home testing and other light jobs.
  • Pros: Great little tester for checking continuity on a variety of voice/data lines. Obviously doesn't have the bells and whistles of more expensive models but gets the job done. Newegg shipped on time as usual.
  • Cons: None.

Not for notebooks

Timothy R., Newegg
25 May 2010
  • Summary: Don't be confused by this product, its not an adapter, its just an add on for a tester unit called TC-NT2
  • Pros: To the first poster
  • Cons: This isn't for notebooks, its for a cable tester unit to test your firewire cables, just happens to have a network connector on one end which connects into the tester unit, not your ethernet jack on your laptop!

What a cool adapter

Chris O., Newegg
25 March 2010
  • Summary: Neat
  • Pros: This is hilarious. What an awesome little adapter. I'm sure it will work out great. Was going to have to spend much more on a laptop because I needed the firewire capability for recording bands on the go with my maudio profire 2626. This should perform admirably.
  • Cons: Little bit wide, and since my Ethernet port sits next to my power cable input, they bend a bit, may need to shave one of these down a bit with a dremell.

BAAASSIICCC

CHRISTOPHER M., Newegg
20 November 2009
  • Summary: Did you know... in 1964 the USA stopped production of Silver Quarters. So when you ask for a roll of quarters, if you are bored... take a peak.. If you find one thats from 64 or earlier its silver, not only that, but its worth 3x what you paid for it (or more...
  • Pros: This thing is basic. WOW is it basic. It works though, so ... what do you want
  • Cons: for this price... I think it should give me a bit more... Then again .. i didn't buy it at the current price, it was higher :-\

Made for 4-pair

Robert B., Newegg
16 October 2009
  • Summary: Good tool for the money, nice pouch, seems rugged enough for the price
  • Pros: Does it's thing, has the 2 ends to to BNC, but mainly today the CAT-5,/6 or four pair is the issue... does GREAT testing a patch cord and works well on hard wired networks... of course a standard 1or 2 pair phone cable works too.... unless your really worried about USB cables, forget the extra "a...
  • Cons: Totally useless on a wall jack to patch plug....It only has one short 4-pair RJ-45 cable... So you gotta have a known to be good patch cord ALSO....to test an existing cable run.... Female jack to female jack... Why ship 2 BNC adaptors, maybe for CATV, but usually they work or don't, not much thi...
