Thermaltake Max4 Active Cooling eSATA and USB Combo 3.5" External Hard Drive Enclosure
15 August 2009
Conclusion: The Max 4 is a nice choice for a hard drive enclosure, especially since it includes a quiet cooling fan and that it’s got both types of interfaces. There’s not much to not like about this enclosure, though I could point out that you really can’t mount it flat or horizontal, it has to be in the stand...
Pros: Easy installation, Relatively fast, Well made aluminum housing, Quiet fan
Conclusion: I can hear it but it is far from loud. Installation was a piece of cake and overall I am very satisfied with it. It was well packed and I am still questining the button manager software that they include, as I fail to see the reason for it.
Excerpt: Thermaltake have been one of the leading makers of heatsinks, particularly in the aftermarket arena, since 1999. In the last few years, they have really made a name for themselves amongst the enthusiast crowd for good quality products at reasonable prices.
Pros: Not much bigger then the HDD itself,, Performed well,, Easy to install,, Excellent design,, Included Case
Cons: Would like to see a pouch on leather case for USB cable.
Conclusion: The need for constant backups and versatility has pushed the manufacturers in creating backup solutions in the form of external devices and USB sticks. But the largest part in the back up scene, is taken by the external enclosures, used to host HDD drives as well as DVD-RW-ROM drives.
