Great in theory...

Anonymous, Newegg
27 June 2011
  • Summary: USB 3.0 is great, and I doubt all of these cards have issues, so I'm not blaming Buffalo directly. I'm simply too lazy (and only have one 3.0 device I need it for) so I opted not to return it.
  • Pros: Well I've only got one port on it working, the other one dies after a random amount of time having anything hooked up to it... but the one that works, works flawlessly. Super fast and decently priced.
  • Cons: Only one port works. For some reason, even after firmware updates and driver updates, one of the ports fails after some time. What's worse, is that it doesn't notify the operating system that it has failed and I guess the onboard controller doesn't recognize the failure. This leads to my USB3.0 h...

Dead out of the Box - Ugh!

John S., Newegg
6 June 2011
  • Pros: None
  • Cons: Installed PCI card per instruction would not work. Device manager said device had error. Manufacturer said the error code I was getting means that the card was dead out of the box would need replacement. NewEgg Rep was very helpful and got RMA set up quickly. Hope new card works!!!

Great way to get USB 3.0!!!

Richard K., Newegg
6 February 2011
  • Summary: I bought this item through a competitor and it was a refurbished product. I assume it is refurbished due to the fact that it did not ship with a driver installation CD and that the zipped driver file from Buffalo Technologies requires you to not only unzip the file, but does not have an intuitive...
  • Pros: Small card that ships with a regular profile (already attached to the PCB) and a low-profile bracket (if your case is thinner and somewhat proprietary). Also ships with a strange cable with two SATA connectors as well (I have yet to determine the use for this!).
  • Cons: Did not ship with a driver installation CD!

Great USB 3.0 PCIe-x1 Card!

Raymond V., Newegg
25 January 2011
  • Summary: Check BOTH your Firmware and Driver versions. My card shipped with firmware v3021, but I upgraded to v3027 straight away. You can check your firmware version using the Host Controller Utility that is installed in the program group with the driver installation.
  • Pros: The Buffalo IFC-PCIE2U3 is one of the better - if not the best - USB 3.0 PCIe x1 card. I get speeds in the 80-130 MB/s range, depending on the device connected.
  • Cons: Use is limited to within the OS. I've used Win7-x86 and XP. The card's firmware doesn't offer any boot options, or any other access options prior to the full OS driver loading, but I don't know about using it with any other OS besides Windows. I bought my card from that other place because it was...

Menuda velocidad, quien pueda verla...

NewDruida, Ciao
7 July 2010
  • Summary: Es la última generación de USB. Hasta 10 veces más rápido que su predecesor el 2.0 alcanzando velocidades de hasta 5 Gbs/s .... increible. Eso sí necesitarás un equipo y unos accesorios de última generación para sacarle partido a este nuevo USB.
  • Pros: Velocidad y consumo
  • Cons: Aún no estamos preparados para sacarle verdadero partido
