Summary: This is a great card on Windows 8 did not have to install any drivers for the SATA 6G Controller or for the NEC USB 3 controller. Only thing that I didn't like is that for some reason it doesn't want to get along with my two 2GB ASUS Radeon 7850's, and hardlocked on me. Update, found out it was a driver/hardware conflict between this card my 7850's on Windows 8. Ended up uninstalling Windows 8 and reinstalling Windows 7 and this card works perfect on Windows 7.
Good choice, but attention when fitting on your motherboard
28 February 2011
Summary: Works as expected, there are good reviews about it here. You should note though that it might not fit well on your mother motherboard. (your choice to say if it's a motherboard design flaw or this little piece...) I have an ASUS P6T Deluxe V2, and tried to fit it in the recommended PCI Express x4_1 slot. At first it worked, but my computer started crashing for no apparent reason after that.
Summary: Hi, just a word of caution, I bought this card from Amazon, foolishly assuming it would fit in my PCI Express slots. It turns out it does not. Take careful note of the shape of the slots on this card. There is one wider and one narrower set of connectors (tabs) that drop into your motherboard. For this card, the narrower slot is closer to the rear of your PC, and the wider slot is closer to the front.
Summary: Unpacked Asus U3S6 a week ago, after using my Crucial SSD on sata II for a while now since my mobo is Asus Rampage II extreme which doesn't support SATA III naturally, I was overwhelmed to find a product that's affordable and saves me the money of buying a new mobo (300$~) and the time of installing one. Before you buy this product check if your mobo is supported on manufacturer's website, my rampage ii wasn't listed on the box but after installation it worked for me.
Summary: I gave this four stars even though it wouldn't work in my system. A friend of mine has one and we've used it and it works great. I never figured out if my system's problem was an incompatibility issue or not. I have a Gigabyte MB rather than one made by ASUS. In my system, I couldn't even POST with this card installed. The power wouldn't even come on as if something were shorted out but I'm not sure.
Summary: Great price and easy installation. This item is on the bleeding edge of USB technology. I installed the card on an ASUS P6T and I have not tested the SATA ports that come on the card. The USB 3.0 is much faster than USB 2.0, but I did not see the 3 GB/s. I am assuming that this will improve as the technology develops and better drivers are developed. The only issue I've had is the card has frozen when transferring a large number of files.
Summary: I want to get SSDs but they cost too much and the drives are too small so I went with this technology. A $30 add-on card and two new SATA 6.0Gb/s capable 1TB hard drives. Cost me less than $250. Right now this is bleeding edge tech. The board works fine but I think it needs better USB drivers. In my testing SATA 6Gb/s is about 50% faster than SATA 3Gb/s controllers+drives not the 100% I hoped for. However, my computer is much more responsive.
