Summary: I have used this coffee maker for about a little while now and I find the on/off button could have been to the front, as you can forget to shut if off, without realizing the coffee maker is still on. I also think it is a bit pricey for this item. As simple as the design is, there is several steps to making a pot of coffee. With all this said, does make good coffee.
Summary: I purchased this machine on the recommendation of my local mom and pop coffee roaster (who sells them but could not get them in stock around Christmas) because my old 12-cup drip machine was brewing at about 140f, and because I rarely make more that two or four cups at once. He told me that the water temp at the brew head would be close to 200 degrees farenheit, a feature I would not see in comparably priced machines by any maker.
Summary: I agree with most of the other posters here that this is a fine coffee maker. BUT... it has a major flaw in that the carafe handle design is flawed. It works by a metal strap tight around the neck of the carafe, holding the handle on. Other coffee makers I've used with this design, also have some means of attaching the bottom of the handle to the side of the carafe, which lessons the pressure created on the strap when you pour.
