Summary: - There's no "on" light and the on/off switch is a pushbutton located on the side of the unit. It's easy to overlook and so you could leave the unit on by mistake.
Pros: (see comments below regarding comparison to my previous Delonghi)
Cons: - Instructions don't say to tamp the coffee in the filter. For my first brew, I followed the instructions and it seemed weak. I made a second fresh cup, tamped the grounds using a measuring cup, and it seemed a bit stronger - as I'm used to. My old Delonghi had a tamper built into the underside of the boiler (next to the coffee brew unit) which was very handy. Gotta look for an aftermarket "tamper" for this purpose.
Pros: Good build quality, attractive, extremely reliable.
Cons: Steam wand is too long which can make frothing difficult. The stock portafilter is garbage and needs to be replaced with a non-pressurized one if you want to really take advantage of this machine.
Pros: This is the best model in the under US$300 range. Read a lot abt it from many coffee gear venders( WLL, SCG, 1st-Coffee ) Not picking on grind bec pressurized portafilter. Small foot print with stainsteel case. Not a "Made in China" kind espresso machine.
Cons: Steam wand use too much air. Better upgrade with steam wand sell by SCG. ( Check their web site under Seaco Aroma accessories/parts for demo video. Vy worth the upgrade!! )
Pros: I've bought two of these. One for my mother, one for my brother. Personally I use a Sylvia (Rancilio) but I wanted something cheaper. This machine works very well. It is temperamental. You must grind the coffee fine, and pack it in the coffee basket or it will not make good coffee. The rule of thumb is for the coffee to take about 20 to 30 seconds in making, this means the amount of coffee that comes thru the machine while making must come out slowly. Adjust the finen...
Cons: None worth mentioning. I've used many machines in the past, this is one of the best one's....just be patient with it and you will be rewarded with a very good espresso.
Cons: 2 bad machines in a row. No reship from Saeco. They keep promising they will send it and have no idea why is has not been replaced. They are all lying, everytime I call. 1st time it was inventory, next time they said inventory, 2 week later, yeah right. They have had the maching more than I have. Both machines make very very week coffee, and I do know how to make expresso. 2nd one leaked like crazy our of the wand. after calling so many times, I found out they never s...
Pros: We've had this espresso machine for almost a month now. It makes very nice espresso with lots of crema on top.. it heats up fast, the foamer works great and fast too... speedy machine, quality drinks.
