Summary: Durwin's review and suggestions are excellent, but we should not have to go to all that trouble. This machine can produce decent coffee, but its chief fault is that it makes a weak brew from what should be an adequate amount of beans. This is because the grind is very coarse. It states that it has 5 fineness of grind settings, however turning the control from 1 to 5 makes not the slightest difference.
Summary: Received today, followed instructions for initial clean and the machine washed my worktop with the amount of water leaking out of the bottom, thought it could be because I had not put the carbon filter in so decide to make a cup with the filter in and proceeded to wash the work top again, very poor quality control from Russell Hobs
Pros: Can use beans or ground coffee, You can't pour a cup until the whole pot is ready.
Summary: This fits the bill! for a novice, I have taken on board all the advice for your great reviews. And I now use unbleached filters, two scoops of espresso beans and two of mixed. It fits all my needs too.
Summary: I bought one of these coffee machines for a friend as a gift a few years ago and she loved it and uses it everyday, so I thought I would purchase one myself. Its prob not as great looking in the kitchen as a more expensive bean to cup coffee maker but i think its great especially when you hear the alarm in the morning and 2 secs after the coffee grinder going (its quite noisy) but that smell of coffee wafting up the stairs is enough to get my lazy butt out of bed, would...
Summary: Already had a semi-automatic espresso maker and a nespresso machine, but needed something to make me a strong and large cup of coffee in the morning. My espresso machine not being top range didn't create good americanos so decided to go for filter coffee and loved the idea of grind & brew. I was a little weary ordering it after reading some of the negative reviews here but in the end decided to focus on the positive reviews which outnumbered the negatives.
Summary: For the price this is a fantastic machine. It does everything and it's easy to use and clean. The main thing is it make a delicious tasting coffee. It would be better if you could have a cup before the water has finished filtering through. I know some machines have a stopper that allows you to take the pot out before it's finished. Instead you have the torturous wait smelling the coffee until the whole pot is filled.
Summary: Having always had 20-30pound coffee makers treated myself to this. Have had it for 10 days and it is absolutely useless!! Whether grinding or using ground coffee there is always grounds in the pot making the coffee unsinkable!!It also uses half a bag of beans for one pot of coffee!!I understand this is non returnable when used but in my opinion it is completely unfit for purpose!!!!!!!!!
Summary: This was a birthday gift to my coffee mad partner - he loves the fact he gets up for work in the morning and the coffee in there waiting - timer facility is a god send - easy to use and clean. Also love the smell of freshly ground coffee every day. Small thing the jug must be out before pressing button to remove and clean filter area - slight design flaw. Other than that it's perfect.
Summary: agree with most comments on here, for the price with the functions this is an excellent coffee m/c, takes a bit of getting used to with beans/water so you get your perfect fix in a morning, i have found that 6cups water to 4cups grind is about right for my taste, very pleased with purchase.
Pros: timer so fresh coffee when wake up, option for ready ground or beans, easy to clean, very loud when grinding beans - be aware if set to come on before your alarm clock
