Summary: After my fifth Cuisinart Grind and Brew Coffee maker (3 different models) stopped functioning I decided on choosing a different brand. There were no reviews so I crossed my fingers and hoped that Krups worked out the kinks with this new model. I had to wait 2 months for the coffee maker as it was ordered before it was released and I am so happy to say that the 2 month wait was MORE THEN worth it!!
Well designed grind & brew system - but flawed electrical system

Summary: ---- UPDATE May 2010 --- I am changing the original enthusiastic 5-star review to a 1-star. The original unit suffered the same fate as many have noted in their reviews - the heating element suddenly ceases to work. The problem appears to be a fusible link that will eventually fail even though there is no short or other problem in the electrical system to cause the failure.
Summary: I have had a number of grind and brew coffeemakers, Cusinarts (awful), Melittas (nice), and this one. The KM7000 is, by far, the easiest to clean, which solves the biggest problem with this type of appliance. Just remove the filter basket, throw out the filter, rinse, and you're ready to go again. My wife loves it as well. Unfortunately, after 2 weeks I was cleaning the filter basket and the spring loaded valve popped off the bottom (I was holding it by the valve; dumb).
Summary: Best coffee I've ever made at home! It looks great, it's quiet and makes wonderful coffee. It stopped cycling water after 6 months use. Of all the things that could go wrong with a machine like this, the water stopped cycling?!?! I will miss it, but I will not buy another Krups!! Back to the Melitta. Steven Just an update, I sent the unit in under warranty and 3 weeks later, brand new machine!!! hooray!!!
Perhaps the best...? IT IS THE BEST AFTER 5 YEARS!!!

Summary: I drink a lot of coffee a pot a day two pots a day on the weekend. I'm a stickler for quality and taste, I'm a former Starbucks Batista, store manager and Coffee Master with a sip of coffee I can tell you the region of the coffee and perhaps how the coffee was processed and how long it was roasted.
Summary: I've had the same Krups drip coffee maker for 20 years (yes, it still works) and decided it was time to upgrade. After a good deal of research, I settled on the Krups grind and brew and I am glad I did. This is the real deal here folks. While I do have to measure the beans, and I had to set the strength to my liking, this machine makes a superb cup of coffee.
Summary: When our old Cuisinart Grind and Brew bit the dust (the unit would go dead many times during a brewing cycle and need a restart), I researched the options. Conical burr grinder, many options for brew strengths and quality, etc., convinced me to buy one despite some of the negative reviews. Product arrived promptly, in perfect condition. My wife (the non-technical one among us) set it up after reading the manual. Everything worked perfectly! Best cup of coffee in years!
Like others' reviews, unit died after 18 months. So did it's replacement. Don't Buy!

Summary: The coffee maker is seriously cheap quality. The unit decided after 18 months to stop heating and pouring the water through to make coffee. Sure Krups will repair it ~ but I have to pay the shipping and I have to go without a coffee maker for about a month to get it fixed. Besides the unit just outright dying, the filter baskets that Krups uses are CHEAP.
Summary: Variability in the grind of the beans and how much coffee is ground fresh for each pot give an excellent degree of brew control not found on the Cuisinart grind and brew model. The machine is easier to clean, but spills a small amount of coffee grounds when the basket cover snaps into position after grinding. The warmer has a two hour shut off, which seems like an industry standard now, an option for longer hold times would be nice.
Summary: This was the best coffee maker until it began leaking a year after purchasing. This coffee maker allows you to make coffee to your liking based on settings for brew strength and grind size. I'd purchase another to save me from using a separate grinder if it didn't break so soon. I suggest using a good gold filter for the best coffee taste. Anything else (paper, steel filter) will taint the flavor.
