Summary: This coffee maker is exactly as advertised. It is German designed which is great and made a nice strong cup of coffee. However, there was a chemical taste to the coffee that I could not get rid of no matter what I did. I finally returned it. I assume because it's made in China, they used some type of inferior and potentially hazardous materials that the German designers never intended.
Summary: I've been using Krups coffee makers for many years. I bought this to replace an older model, thinking it would be an upgrade. For some reason, the coffee has a terrible, chemical/metallic taste. I've run water through repeated, including a vinegar cleaning. I've tried different coffees; I even brewed coffee in both the old and new Krups at the same time, and the old coffee maker produced great coffee while the new KM611D50 was undrinkable.
Summary: This is my second KRUPS of this model. My old one was black.I really dislike this machine. it is not the same as my old one.I cannot see the water level marks change color.they are too dark......I really dislike it.
Summary: Researching coffee makers is difficult because they're not built to last a decade or so, like in the past. I know first hand that coffeemakers, regardless of the brand, are going to fail, some sooner than others. Having said that, I have come back to Krups again, they make the absolute best tasting coffee. My last Krups, a slightly different model, held up well but is being replaced because the carafe has a slight crack in it.
Summary: On the second machine now, both made the worst tasting (Burnt plastic) coffee I've ever had. Krupps is very nice and replaced the maker right away but I still have the plastic smell and taste. I tried cleaning with vinegar, rinsing with baking soda and several pots of just clean water but no improvement.
Summary: Five stars because this coffee maker makes great coffee. I have owned other coffee makers in the past and they just don't make the grade. I read the other reviews and get the issue with these Krups breaking down; this one replaces my previous one that I think lasted four years. When it broke down I almost cried. It simply opted out of working without warning, one day there, the next a corpse on my counter.
Summary: The plastic pins that form the hinge for the spring loaded top of the machine broke after 13 months, just 1 month out of warranty! Time to buy a new coffee maker...and it won't be this model again...sigh... I liked the looks, and it functioned well until the hinge failed.
Summary: I had this unit in black for 5 or 6 years, but the hinge pin finally broke so I searched for a replacement. My wants are two: consistently make a great cup of coffee; and be no more than 13 1/2 inches tall so it will fit in my appliance garage. This Krups does both. Pro's: Makes great coffee, brews quickly, easy to program for automatic start time, programmable time 1 to 3 hours to keep coffee warm after brewing.
