great but not hot enough
23 September 2013
Summary: it is not as simple as it should be. you cannot use dark roast, the coffee is never hot enough even though i had it on hot and the rinsing is almost every other cup. that said i like the machine, but i like my hot drinks hot so i end up microwaving them. but a cup of coffee out of it is worth all the troubles.
Great coffee, milk frothing painful, not hot enough, easy (relative) maintenance, leaked twice in three years

Summary: The machine just works (until it leaks). Amazing the complexity of the super automatics. Coffee is fantastic. The milk frothing system was half baked. No manual frothing (see hack below). Getting repairs sucks. Customer Service is great. Maintenance could be much better. It's much more hands off than machines that allow access to the brew group. You don't have to clean the brew group weekly, which is nice.
Summary: We just bought the Impressa C9. I am a big cappuccino fan and have not been happy with the frothing on this machine. The foam is not great and does not last. Yes, we've cleaned the frother, many times. The coffee is good. The machine is quite noisey, if that would bother you. The pictures of coffee, latte and cappucino coming out of the product ad are misleading.
Summary: we've had an S9 Jura for over 7 years and made over 6,000 coffees with it. It was a trooper and fantastic but sadly died on us so we wanted a replacement. I checked the specs for the S9 and C9 and seemed they were pretty much the same so for the price difference it felt living with a black and slimmer model with slightly less horsepower was a sensible trade-off. The good; 1. Quiet 2. Small 3. Makes a nice cup of coffee (if administered well) 4.
