Summary: We have had this machine for nearly 2 years. When it works it makes great coffee, but it is so "fussy" about the sort of coffee it will grind and deliver. Its driving me nuts. Its like playing a slot machine with a 30-60% payout! I have tried the drier Italian roast, which admittedly have a higher success rate, but any hint of oil of the beans and we are down below 30% success. The wand is OK, not great. I like every thing else about the machine.
Summary: Honestly, I purchased it for an office of 8 people to replace our Nespresso. It's not intended for industrial use, I get it. Regardless, its quite fussy. It's water dispenser is WAY too small. It fills up with grinds after only a few uses, the first coffee of the day might as well be swamp water... all that said, it does make a damn good cup of coffee.
Summary: Bought Gaggia Brera through Amazon about a year and a half ago and worked well until all of a sudden got stuck in a "prime loop" where all it could do was prime over and over again--no more brewing. I have cleaned and descaled it exactly as instructed in manual and did all of that again to troubleshoot to no avail. here is a YouTuvbe video descring problem although their's occured right out of box and I had excellent espresso for a year and a half. Summary: we have had 2 other gaggia machines, and have had great luck with them. we decided to go with a semi-automatic when our last one died. this machine makes great coffee, but we have had some problems with it that we hope are solved by now. the machine plugged up and quit working about 5 months after we got it. we use it daily, and were using espresso blend coffee from costco, which is quite oily.
Summary: This coffee machine is OK but the main problem is the small water container - you will get approximately 2 mugs of coffee out of it before you have to refill it. VERY annoying as you need remember if you filled it and then if you forget you need to recharge it to get rid of the air. Would not buy again - especially for the price.
Summary: This is a very very nice machine, don't get me wrong, but I got a bargain and wouldn't be very pleased if I had paid full price for it. We have already had to send one back as, when it came to it's in built de-scaling alarm time I was unable tore-set the alarm as described in the manual. Even after following the De-scaling procedure and the reset procedure still the indicator remained on. After discussing this with a repair engineer it turned out that this was a fault.
Summary: +tives 1. Makes coffee at press of button providing it has beans in top 2. Empties used coffee into dispenser that you have to empty every 4-6 coffees, 3. Boiling water at turn of knob which can be used for anything. (Comes out of wand) 4. Choice of 3 strengths of coffee at touch of button. The above reasons make the machine worth buying for our family. I am very fussy about coffee and I'm pretty much guaranteed a good cup in minimal time. -tives 1. Too automated.
