Summary: My first Francis Francis espresso machine lasted about 6 years until it shorted out. This machine was my second, however it only lasted about 18 months before developing electric failure. It will be my last Francis Francis.
Good for espresso, bad for steaming milk (and customer service)

Summary: I've been a faithful FrancisFrancis user for years. I loved my X1, but it needed repairs. Since Francis Francis has been taken over by Illy, their customer service has become nonexistent, so I haven't been able to get the parts I need to fix it. I was excited by the new iperespresso capsules, so I decided to go with the X7. The espresso is as good as advertised. But my wife and I each make a latte every morning.
Summary: I purchase this machine on the basis of the excellent reviews it received. It's a lovely looking machine and gives you the impression that you are a bit of a "barista" when you clamp the pod into the machine. It's strictly an espresso machine (which is all it claims to be) so you can't set it to deliver a bit of extra water as I am able to do with my Nespresso machine. This is no real problem, you just have to add water from the kettle.
Summary: we were very happy with this product until it came to the descale. after approx. nine months the machine indicated that it required a de-scale. we have followed the procedure without deviation with the appropriate product as supplied with the unit. However following the de-scale the water temperature is not sufficient to drink the coffee and the steam pressure is not great enough to stem milk.
Summary: I don't tend to write reviews but there are a couple of flaws in my opinion on this machine. Before I start, I would say that whilst the illy ( only ) capsules that come with this machine are at an above average price the coffee is first class, which is the main reason for this purchase. That said there are 2 significant flaws in my opinion which will see me move on from this machine.
Summary: This machine actually works very well, and produces great coffee when it's working properly. Unfortunately after a few months of owning this machine, it stopped working and nothing I could do would fix it, and I had to send it back to the manufacturer. They sent me a replacement machine and within a couple months it happened again. Basically the machine acts like it has blockage somewhere and water comes out the "back pressure valve" in the drip tray.
