Don't waste your money on a refurbished Francis Francis X1

Summary: I know the X1 is no longer available for sale new, but this is a warning for anyone who might buy one refurbished or passed on from someone else. As you know, this is a pretty expensive machine, and I had planned on having it for a lifetime. I had my first X1 for about 6 years, using it once day.
Summary: Received this machine as a gift. Within days of the original warranty expiring, the power switch shorted out. I called the manufacturer to order a new switch (which was no easy task, mind you; finding contact information for the maker is next to impossible) and I was told it was against their policy...
Summary: I'm Italian (born and raised there) and I grew up on cappuccinos. This is in absolute the most gorgeous way to make a terrible cappuccino. I have constant better result with the cheapest model made by Krupps. Pros: Beautiful to look at Espresso is good Cons: - It takes 15'-30' (minutes, not second!
Summary: What an investment for such a dispointing product. I had an old ... Krups expresso maker that worked great for 5 years. The Francis model never had as much power. I sent it back in twice to get "fixed" (after much hassle from the company) and got my same machine back twice - with no noticeable...
Summary: This is a really great looking machine that makes really poor espresso. I've seen people say that they are making espresso that is as good as what they are buying. That's great, but most of us in the coffee hobby and trade consider mass market espresso to be swill.
Summary: I bought this machine with high expectations. After the 3 week wait for delivery, I couldn't wait to get it. It looked stunnning. Unfortunately I was very disappointed with the quality of the coffee produced.
Summary: We've had one of these machines for 3 and half years and it drives me crazy. Looks great - no doubt about about it, but have had to have it repaired several times (once under warranty), but it returns from the service centre with the same problem.
Summary: This is the coolest looking coffee machine I have seen. But, there are problems with the manufacturing / distribution. The first machine I ordered from Amazon came with a broken STEAMER knob: rendering the machine non-functional.
Summary: My experience is very similar to others who have reviewed this coffee machine. Seduced by wonderful looks but then so disappointed when it just stopped working after less than 1 year. It starts then just stops after 5 seconds or so. Impossible to get repaired too.
Summary: Very poor quality shots. Very messy. Mine's going in the bin! Buy La Pavoni or something else instead, for £200 less (not Gaggia - unreliable). Gets one star for looks. UPDATE 30 March 2012: Well, persuaded by wife not to throw away. After 3 years and 3 replacements, the latest one just blew-up!
