blocks too easily
25 February 2013
Summary: This machine is ok but for some reason it blocks very easily and the pressure then builds up so much its hard to get the handle off. This is especially the case when grinding beans yourself. Its very frustrating not being able to get that quick espresso fix in the morning.
Used to think it was great until I tried another...

Summary: After 3 years ownership and only using it once a week it blew up and spewed hot water everywhere. I was never 100% happy with the machine but would have given it 4 stars up until I bought a different brand replacement that has hilighted how poor the Dualit is.
Summary: I struggled to make this work without leaking. The coffee it makes is nice if slightly weak, but coming from an old filter machine it just didn't seem worth the extra work and cleaning time, so I returned it.
Summary: I really wanted to like this machine because of it's compact design and smart looks but after 2 weeks I had to send it back. Despite using a pressurized portafilter the Duatit makes a pretty decent espresso, but even with the supplied paper filters it gets blocked all too easily.
Summary: There is little doubt that the Dualit 84009 Chrome is beautifully engineered, and should last many years if my previous Dualit espresso machine is anything to go by (12 years). Unfortunately there is a design fault with the coffee filter cups.
Disappointing and fiddly to maintain; good froth though

Summary: First, the good news: if you like cappuccinos and lattes, this machine does great steam-frothing. There is ample space for a large mug under the frothing spout, and there is a good long supply of steam. But the bad news: I have owned this machine for three months now, and I use it every day.
