Mr N.B., Amazon

Summary: I have been buying things from Amazon from 1999 with the same account. Sadly, this is the first time I return an item. Even if the look of the machine is great, the quality of the material was less so and it was easy to scratch any part of it. More importantly, the quality of the coffee was poor. I followed the instructions, primed the machine, run a cup of hot water before every coffee and the result was a brew that wasn't hot enough.
Summary: I have owned this machine for about 5 months, and have had problems with it for about 4 of those months. I read the amazon reviews and warnings and bought it anyway (it's listed as a which? best buy and we know we should trust which?) and have regretted not returning it at the first sign of trouble. What's been made it even worse is Dualit's casual attitude to my complaints and inability to fix the machine despite sending it back to them.
Summary: *****Final update, Feb '11***** The machine developed a fault with the main control dial on the front - it wasn't possible to operate it when it was it was at the correct temperature. I returned it to John Lewis for repair. It came back from Dualit after about two weeks and was working normally. Unfortunately 3 days later the steam wand came off during use and it wasn't possible to reconnect it.
Summary: I purchased the esspressivo from Ogormons in February thinking that being a dualit it would be a quality coffee maker, how wrong can you be. Like other people who purchase the machine I soon found out the filters keep getting blocked, and poor delivery or not at all of coffee from the machine & the drip tray fills up with water as quick as the coffee cup.
Summary: For years I've wanted a coffee maker and after fitting a new kitchen we finished it off with Dualit. As you can guess I didn't rush into the purchase but carefully weighed up the options and finally settled on the Dualit model and a burr grinder. First impressions were good, the machine was easy to use, if a little noisier than expected. Getting the right setting on the grinder ensured the metal filter head didn't clog although it was messy to empty out.
Summary: Having previously worked in several coffee shops making excellent coffee i couldn't resist having a machine to make excellent coffee at home (having said that by no means did i expect a machine at coffee shop standards!!!) i bought the dualit 84200 based on the brand name and specification and was very excited to see such a sturdy and handsome machine come out of the box i would like to say that the coffee lived up to the expectation but that would be lying.
Summary: Well i had this machine for 3 weeks, it replaced a trusty 6 old Krups coffee maker which was gradually falling apart the reserviour was cracked and leaked, the milk frother had snapped off years ago, yet it still made a good coffee daily with a good cream on top. The Dualit looks good and is well made, intially I liked the coffee using my usual brand it was stronger and had a more intense flavour than what my old Krups produced, the creama was disappointing though thin...
Summary: I have returned this machine once to Dualit because 1; the steam/coffee control knob needed 2 hands for me & was not possible for my wife to turn & 2;the coffee was luke warm 63 in a pre warmed insulated cup.The knob is now fine & my only tests of coffee temperature are 66 black & 59 after adding milk. This is not hot enough for us & would result in a cup of coffee at this temperature being returned in a cafe!
Summary: Dualit 84200 Espressivo coffee maker chrome I have had this machine for a few months, & have found what I consider a major problem. The 2 cup filter has a very small hole on the under side which the coffee comes out, this becomes blocked by small grouts of coffee passing the fine filter on upper side of filter, you cannot take filter apart to clean, with no coffee coming out the pressure builts up & when you remove holder a hot water & coffe explodes at you.
Summary: I really tried with this machine but if you are serious about coffee I suggest that you look for another machine. The espresso appears to have lots of crema when produced but has an odd aerated quality to it and the machine never seemed to get the temperature right. Once you have finished making your espresso the coffee remains as a runny sludge in the handle and has to be scraped out with a spoon (unlike previous espresso machines I've owned where you just bang the...
