Summary: I purchased this from a upscale B&M store, pretty sure it was a display as it had no packaging, manual and did not have the frothing pitcher (and no non-working dvd). No problem, went to the DeLonghi web site, ordered the pitcher assembly and downloaded the manual. The machine makes a great coffee and espresso with a perfect crema. The ability to program the quantity brewed regardless of the selection is great. Cappucino, latte, machiatto it all works very well.
Summary: this is a great machine. it makes perfect cappuccino and coffee, with very little work. if you can afford it get it. the only reason mine went back is that there are alot of plastic parts inside the machine, that I could see wearing out. At this price point I don't want to see plastic parts. however my friend has had his machine for over two years with no issues.
Summary: I have owned this machine for about 3-4 years. It faithfully grinds and presses three double long shots every morning, and maybe a decaf preground in the evening and then goes into heavy duty load when my wife plays "barrista" when guests are over. Not a single problem, never an error and low, low maintenance. Occasional descale and clean the parts. My only complaint is my spouse set the milk temp too high and I dont know how change it.
Summary: I had a Jura Capresso F9 for a year before it went bad - the company replaced it with a refurbished machine. I had upgraded to the Jura from a Saeco which was an absolute nightmare. Ultimately I enjoyed my Jura but hated that none of the parts were user-serviceable and I had to rely onthe cleaning tablets to ensure that the machine was 'clean'.
Summary: I have owned a run of the mill krups coffee maker forever. It refused to die. I could not imagine spending thousands for a coffee machine but my wife really wanted to get me something special for father's day. I did a fairly compulsive online review but it was not until I saw the Grand Dama up close and personal that I made up my mind. It's a beautiful piece of kitchen sculpture. Now came the test, would it work?
Summary: I purchased this machine around 6 months ago, and absolutely LOVE IT! I was concerned that I would buy an espresso maker and that the lattes would not be of the same quality as I buy from Starbucks, but they are! I can not rave about this machine enough. It is the best appliance I have ever purchased without a doubt. LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!
Summary: I am a bit of a coffee snob and always wanted a high powered espresso machine, but my wife was put-off by the complexity of the commercial machines. We bought the Gran Dama because it is so automatic that making great latte and cappuccino is now a breeze for her and I love the real espresso taste. The instructional DVD and intuitive programming got us off to a fast start. Watching the DVD a couple of times before plugging in machine helps set-up go smoothly.
Summary: Purchased the Delonghi Gran Dama for our home coffee bar and it has been an outstanding addition. The machine itself is a striking testament to contemporary design - an all stainless exterior with an icy blue lcd display panel. Instructions and set up couldn't be easier. Delonghi has included a clear instruction manual and demo disc. The coffee beverages that emerge are as good as any coffee shop - rich crema with just the right amount of froth.
Summary: I had to grit my teeth to spend this much on a an Espresso machine but it has been worth every penny. I have only been using it for a couple of weeks so I can't comment on how reliable it is but my machine is working perfectly. It took a little experimentation to find the right coffee to meet my expectations. I lived in Italy and want something that comes close to my favorite Pasticerria coffee.
