Summary: I knew I was taking a chance with a less expensive machine but, while the espresso isn't perfect, it's better than drip. What I didn't expect was the seals going so soon. Water constantly drips from the brewer and the frother. Unfortunately it started after Amazon's return window...?! I'm on the phone with DeLonghi as we speak. Hopefully they can tell me how to fix the leak!!
Summary: This was to replace a De'Longhi that gave years of fine service. Most irritating- with every heating cycle it noisily spits out gouts of steam. About every two minutes the water heater turns on and soon enough steam spits to leave the cupboards/wall above driping moisture, fogs the windows... Leaving the filter holder with spent coffee in place helps a little.
Summary: I can actually drive to Starbucks and wait in line for a latte before this machine makes one. The frother is so weak that it takes way to long to get the froth and make the milk hot enough. I am probably going to send it back and try a different brand. I had a Starbucks barista for a long tome and loved it but it had a problem with the steamer control so I tried this one. Big mistake and payed way to much for it.
Summary: UPDATE This thing is so temperamental. Grind's not fine enough, you get watered down junk. Grind's too fine, your filter is clogged. Sorry, it took longer than 10 seconds for a single drop to come out of the spout. Your coffee has been scorched. Throw the coffee away and TRY AGAIN. This is what it's like to work with this machine. I have had this thing for 4 months now and I haven't used it at all for at least the last 2.
Summary: I bought this product almost one year ago. I am using it since then for two or four expresso or cappuccino cups almost every day and was satisfied with it. The machine is user friendly, the expresso coffee was very good, the cappuccino excellent! It worked good for the first six months. Then under pressure it started leaking through the cappuccino frother, not very dramatic but not acceptable anyway...
Summary: Attaching the frother equipment is nearly impossible. Never gets fully on the first 10 tries. Espresso is reasonably good, but the milk frother is only passable. If I could do it over, I would buy a nespresso.
Summary: OK call me a Luddite if you will, but for all the trouble it takes to fill, heat up, measure the coffee, compact it, wait for hot water etc. etc. not to mention the cleaning afterwards- it really is so much simpler to use a cafetiere! But that would be true of all of thius type of machine - not just De'Longhi.
Summary: very unimpressed, difficult to use , frother keeps falling off and awkward to clean, drips all over counter and not into reservoir; have to hold it down to attach coffee handle - all in all more trouble than its worth.
Summary: We've had 4 or 5 De'Longhi expresso machines over the years. All previous ones have been very good. This De'Longhi machine rattles/vibrates a lot due to some form of a faulty design. We really like the look of this one and after the first one rattled and vibrated a lot, we thought we may have been unlucky. We ended up buying a second one and after first three days it started rattling very badly as well.
Summary: Returned 2 of these to amazon during the guarantee period, ended up getting a refund. Same problem occurred with both of them, the pump stopped working properly and just a dribble of water came out. Checked all the usuals, filter etc, to no avail. Can't really recommend this machine.
