Summary: every espresso machine I have ever had burned out after a time, whether stove top or electric. This was my third DeLonghi brand and they are good fundamental machines that make fairly even coffee over the life of the machine which seems to be from one year to three. So that is maybe a thousand to three thousand cups? My option is a stove top model (which I like, but tend to burn on the stove) or a more expensive machine. There you are.
Summary: I only use this for making Americanos and love it. It's easy to use and seems to work efficiently. The only reason I give it four stars is that I haven't used the steamer portion of this and don't know if that works well or not. I think it's decently attractive on my counter and would recommend it to anyone.
Summary: This is my first espresso machine and I must confess, it is wonderful. I use Lavazza coffee and purchased a 51mm, 12oz tamper. (It is possible that a 52mm may be a more exact fit, but 53mm would be much too large.) With these tools, and a few minutes of web based reading, I managed to pull a beautiful espresso on my first try. This machine produced a proper drink: dark base, light middle, thick crema on top. Every time it's the same lovely result.
Read the manual and it's a great machine for the price

Summary: I'm someone that never reads the manual for anything. For this machine, I actually read it and so glad I did. I saw all the reviews here and it took a while to decide to buy this machine. If you read the manual, it'll show you how to properly use this machine, properly take care of it, and so far, I use it everyday. Sometimes a few times a day. And it works perfectly for me. No leaks or issues and VERY intuitive to use.
Summary: Machine works well, love my daily latte!! Dealing with the steamer/frother nozzle has not been my favorite. For the first 3 months, I disassembled and cleaned nozzle components with each use. And then one of the o-rings broke. Fyi, nozzle will not work correctly without o-rings! I replaced o-ring with one from auto parts store (same size, lots cheaper). But continuing to disassemble/wash with each use got more difficult..
Summary: The DeLonghi EC270 is my first espresso machine. I was looking into home espresso machines and really couldn't afford the price of many mid-high level machines, but this one looked like it would do great. The first thing I noticed, as I was unpacking the machine, was it's weight - not incredibly light, though not very heavy. And most of that weight is top-heavy, so you'll need to have an extremely firm grip on it when connecting the portafilter.
Summary: i have had several good machines over the years. they usually stop working for one reason or another after a 2 or 3 years, so i try not to spend too much on them. Very happy with this machine, and hope it lasts a couple of years.
