Summary: I received this Coffee Maker last Friday. First of all, as another reviewer mentioned, I love the clean white/stainless steel look, and the small footprint. I have a very small kitchen and it fits easily on the counter. Second, it comes with its own charcoal filter to filter the water with, but since I use Britta water in my coffee maker, I did not install the charcoal filter that came with the coffee maker. And last, but not least, it makes great coffee.
Summary: I'm wondering about the reviewers who say their coffee isn't hot or strong enough -- do they keep their coffee in the freezer? Because THAT affects how coffee turns out.... (Freshness also affects strength.) I read all the reviews of this machine before I ordered it, to replace a Mr. Coffee (with thermal carafe) that crapped out on me a few days ago.
Summary: I bought this coffee maker as I have an apartment with limited space. Its great looking and just the right physical size. Unfortunately after using it for a few months, some bad design points mean I wouldn't purchase another or recommend it. Its very easy to replace the filter holder in the wrong position (very subtle), this means that when the jug is placed underneath it, the filter holder does not drain properly.
Summary: I was mistaken. I didn't have it for 2 years. It's been 18 mos. Made good coffee until it died of the electrical crackles and smoke. My sweet English Budgie died tonight (budgies are poisoned by fumes of various types); the smoke yesterday morning. Hope that had nothing to do with it. Don't buy them. they aren' worth it. BTW, I'm not a "kid"........don't know where they got that?
Summary: It was great at first, but, after several months, I realized the carafe was scratching the coating on the surface of the warming plate. Not too big of a problem, something I could live with. But then, one day, after starting a pot, I returned to find coffee all over the counter and dripping on the floor. As some others have suggested, this problem is caused by fine coffee grinds building up in the mechanism on the top of the pot that allows the coffee to drip in.
Summary: I purchased this item May 2009 so I have over a years experience. I cannot count the number of times I have vowed never to purchase another Cuisinart product. Looks great, and love the thermal carafe but overall its very poorly designed. You have to be careful when loading the water because various obstructions at the top of the water container make the water splash.
Good thermal carafe machine, but pay attention to the stop-and-pour feature.

Summary: This Cuisinart FlavorBrew thermal carafe coffee maker is compact and stylish, and makes a tasty cup that stays hot for hours without additional heating. We like our coffee strong, and this machine's brew tastes best when using 8 cups of water or less. One caveat: the stop-and-pour mechanism is very sensitive, and the filter holder must be firmly seated before you start brewing.
Wakes you up...but not long enough, Seriously Dissapointed!

Summary: When the husbands hours got shifted to early, we needed a programmable coffee pot and this works great....the only complaint is the alarm. It beeps when the coffee is done. At 3:30 in the morning, it seems awful loud so I set the programming and it now beeps the same time as the alarm clock is going off. It would be nice if the beep could be turned off but it's still a great coffee pot and I would buy again. UPDATE 1/17/12 It died this morning!!
