Summary: I am sorry to say the Cuisinart's quality is slipping. I run the coffee club for a 125 person office. We have 3 Cuisinart coffee brewers, each machine makes 4 or 5 pots of coffee every work day. I had 2 old model DCC-2100 Cuisinart 14 cup machines that survived over 9 years, so when they failed in 2010 and 2014, I replace them with the newer model DCC-2600 Cuisinart 14 cup machine. The newer machines do not have the same quality fit or finish as the older machine.
Run through the Cleaning cycle with white vinegar before using it.

Summary: I love the coffee maker. i replaced a Cuisinart 2600 that was ten years old. I did have a problem with a "plastic" smell in the first two pots made with it. I followed the instructions about running a pot of fresh cold water through it before making the first pot of coffee but the plastic smell was strong in the coffee.

Summary: One year, almost to the exact date of purchase, the heating plate does not keep the coffee hot and very recently I have had two mornings where the pot does not even turn on(why it works one morning and not the next I can't figure out) . I keep a very clean kitchen and have cleaned the pot according to manufacture's instructions so the fault does not lie there.
Summary: Melitta 10 Cup Thermal vs Cuisinart 14 cup Brew Central: The quest for a new coffee maker started upon the demise of an 18 month old Mr. Coffee (the immediate predecessor to the top seller here on Amazon). The Mr. Coffee worked fairly well until it began to leak from the base. After 18 months? Not acceptable, even at a basically disposable price.
Summary: Always have had Mr. Coffee. When last one died, went shopping. Purchased the Cuisinart DCC-2600 14 cups coffee maker. BEST DECISION EVER! Love it. Not only for the extra capacity but makes a great cup of java! Extra: water filter system. You won't be sorry if you buy this one!!! One more thing~~coffee doesn't get 'burned' taste during after-brewed cycle.
Summary: I treated myself to this new coffee maker when I learned of the design upgrades that Cuisinart has made over the years. My old Cuisinart model made excellent coffee, and was still going strong after ten years, but as a lot of people know, water condensed on the lid of these older models, and when the lid was opened it would dribbled down the back. I put a towel down to collect the drips, but after ten years I decided to replace the unit. I'm glad I did.
