Summary: the coffee maker looks good on the counter as well as makes fine coffee. Grinding your own beans and then having the coffee maker automatically brew is great. It can't get much fresher than that!
Generally OK but not for French/Italian Roasts-recommend w/certain criteria

Summary: This is a beautiful machine and the overall quality is good. The burr grinder and automatic grind/brew feature is why I bought it. However, it is not a good fit if you like strong coffee and use very oily beans as the grinder does not do well with these. If you use medium or light and more dry beans, this is a great coffeemaker. The best one I have every used is the Melitta Mill and Brew that is, sadly, no longer made.
Summary: I chose this over the Cuisinart comparable model because it is so much easier to maintain. The burr grinder is the preferred manner of grinding and the strength of the brew. It does not come with paper filters and the manual does not even mention them. As well as the goldtone permanent filter works, I don't like the mess. I recommend using #4 filters (non-cone), although it's good to know that I don't have to panic if I run out of them.
Summary: I needed to replace the Cuisinart Grind-n-brew that I have used for years. I like the idea of fresh ground beans every pot, but was increasingly frustrated by the hassle of cleaning the Cuisinart. After reading several reviews, I decided to give this a shot. This thing rocks for us! Easy to program, easy to clean and load the beans, excellent coffee to our taste (strong, hot and black).
