Summary: I had this espresso machine for about a year and the grinder gave me trouble from day one. I contacted breville numerous times and was told that they couldn't do anything other than suggesting to use different kind of coffee beans.
Conclusion: "I received the BES870XL for a Christmas present in 2013. I was really excited, but when I tried the machine, it didn't work. I'm a coffee snob, and have had various models over the years, I know how to run an expresso machine, but I couldn't get the pressure gauge to function.
Conclusion: "Beautiful Machine. Pleasing to the eye and fits weill with my kitchen. Set up was easy. Started with cheap coffee beans (Not expresso, 8 oçlock) and did not get good results. Bought Starbucks fresh expresso whole beans at grocery store and came out perfect (grind, pressure, etc) On my 3rd try made...
Conclusion: "There is always a good reason when something is cheaper than its rivals. $600 for a combo grinder and espresso machine that has a built-in PID is definitely a steal. BUT you are really paying much more for its horrible durability, especially, combined with lack of responsibility from Breville.
Conclusion: "Just a couple suggestions re the instruction manual for the Barista express. First off I like the machine and it's functionality. I also love the coffee (really Americano). I am now on my 3rd machine in the second year of ownership as the first two machines began to make a loud chattering noise...
Conclusion: "Breville has done a great job designing the BES870XL. It's easy to use with the built in automation but once you get used to the machine you can customize the coffee different ways to your taste. I use mine 3 - 4 days a week for 3 - 4 coffees a day for our family.
Conclusion: "ALL WHAT I CAN SAY, FOR THOSE COFFEE LOVERS, THIS IS IT.. DO NOT THINK ABOUT TWICE AN INVESTING IN THIS AMAZING WONDEFUL EXPRESSO. I HAVE HAD FOR AT LEAST 2 YEARS, AND I HAVE 0 REGRETS, IF I NEED TO INVEST IN ANOTHER EXPRESSO WILL BE THIS BRAND..
Conclusion: "I have had an older model of this for about 5 years now and I could not be more pleased. Has worked perfectly without missing a beat. I use mine about 3-4 days a week making 2 drinks a day sometimes 3. It makes wonderful espresso and beautiful froth.
Conclusion: "I absolutely LOVE my Breville BES870... it makes a nice, hot, "fluffy" latte every time. The burr grinder is wonderful, and I especially love that it grinds just as much as I want with the press of a button (i.e. pusing the portafilter in to turn it off and on).
Conclusion: "After 10 years with a Francis Francis X5 which I typically used with Illy ESE pods, my little blue machine sadly passed away. I loved it so. It made a good espressos for me every morning. RIP little guy.
