Summary: Have had Italian Espresso machines that only lasted a couple years and were fraught with issues. When the last Italian one died in 2010 I decided to go German! This machine is fantastic. Works every time and not fidgety. Easy to clean and makes a great coffee or espresso. The steamer is high power and froths milk like it should. When this one does, if it ever does, I will buy Bosch again.
Summary: The saga of this review begins just before Christmas. As I unpacked the unit I noticed coffee grounds in all of the packaging, this tipped me off that something was amiss. It was definitely used before as evidenced by the presence of an alarming amount of coffee remnants, smudges on the controls and clearly previously opened packaging. A call to Amazon customer service began the return process however securing a guarantee for an actually "NEW" product was more difficult.
Summary: My Bosch just just died on me after 4&1/2 yrs of faithful service making anywhere between 4 to 6 cups of coffee a day. The frothing wand isn't the best out there, but easy to use and quick to warm up for steam to make my caramel macchiato. I love my coffee hot, and the temp was always hot enough for me. Only probs i ever had with the machine was that i would have to often push down the beans inside the hopper or else the beans wouldn't fall into the grinder.
Summary: We've had the Bosch B20 espresso maker for over 5 years. In general, it is easy to use and makes great coffee/espressos with a good crema. We've used it daily for 4-10 shots a day over 5 years, so I would guess we have somewhere around 15000 shots poured. But... it seems to be designed to have a 5 year lifespan, which is disappointing for a $1000+ appliance. After 3-4 years, the thermoblock and pump failed. It cost around $250 to replace those.
Summary: I've had this machine for about 2 years now. When I bought it on Amazon I researched the reviews - most of it was pretty good. Lately the reviews are becoming more negative, so I feel it may be helpful for me to share my experience with it. It's 2 years old and still works reliably. That may sound funny but it's an expensive purchase and during my research I found a lot of horror stories from people who bought high end machines only to have them fail in a year or two.
Summary: DO NOT PURCHASE this machine. I have tried and tried to work with it as it seemed like a good concept. I have always used Saeco machines and had pretty good luck. A friend recommended this as it is actually a Jura product that is manufactured for Bosch. Good luck getting any customer service as most of the Bosch team doesn't even know they make espresso machines. Filters are impossible to find and cleaning tablets will run you approx $40.
Summary: I've owned the Bosch for over 5 years now. It's pushed out close to 10,000 shots of coffee now and is still as dependable as the day we got it. I've seen the low ratings on here for it and all I can say is that when this one dies, I will get another one. Pros - adjustability, ease of use, ease of cleaning, dependability, sleek good looks, solid programming and logic Cons - takes awhile to do the descaling, but I owe it that much!
Summary: Have to push the beans down every time to insure they get to the grinder. Water tank is small.- refill often. My previous Saeco worked for 5 years of constant on time. This one has auto shutoff which is a positive. You do have to leave the coffee bean door open all the time so you remember to hand push the beans down each time. Try to find an automatic machine that has all the critical assets working - Disappointed user.
Summary: Unit showed up today and just makes a nasty grinding noise when I try to "refill the water pipe system in the appliance". I can't be sure but I wonder if it's a refurb that is just being cycled from customer to customer until someone misses the chance to return it and has to pay to have it repaired. No way any reasonable test at the factory would have missed this. Headed back to Amazon tomorrow. Hope you're not the next one to buy it...
Summary: I owe a coffee machine Bosch Benvenuto Classic Thermoblock. Bed maintenance from Bosch and machine is really not good... When grinding the coffee it smells burnt plastic and the coffee tastes de same. Sent it to Bosch under guarantee, they said the machine was perfect and I had to pay EUR 70 for having asked for it to be fixed (had to pay for a taxi, so to say). I complained to the Bosch HQ and did not even got a reply. My advice, buy any other machine but NOT Bosch.
